Maguire Kennel is a small personal kennel in near Rt. 1 in Walpole. They specialize in personal care and even have a small store in which they mostly sell dog products.
My family and I have been using Maguire Kennels since 1988 and we have no problems. When I became an adult and had my own cats, I decided to continue to use Maguire Kennels for my cat boarding/vacation needs.
This was the 3rd visit for my 5 year old cat and the 2nd time visit for my 2 year old cat. I thought since they did a great job last time that history would repeat itself.
....Oh, if only I was so luckily. Something happened there (different ownership maybe?) and the service simply sucks now.
First, they always gave me a ""special deal"" in which the 2nd cat would be 1/2 the price AS LONG as they share the same cage. I double-checked the young employee BEFOREHAND - she simply said, ""yes"".
When I picked them up, the owner (I guess that who it was) said THAT NEVER existed (then why did you do it the last time and why does my credit card from last year show this???) and that she would NEVER say that. And, thus, forced me to full price for both cats or I couldn't get them. Period.
(Great customer service, huh? Don't worry... it gets better....)
Ok, so I paid over $100 more... but did my cats get the best service? Well, only 1/2 right! The 2 yr seemed fine (maybe happy that he got out of there??) but the other one - only 5 year old - had lost about 2 pounds, was shaking, hardly eating, pulling at his fur, and had some black insects in his ears ... and now it's been a week.
I have to bring him to the vet now to make sure that he's OK.
I notified the owner about this via e-mail and again, just said that he ""received the best care possible"" at the best price.
So, if you want to get your cat or dog traumatized and pay WAYYYY more than you have to, then please go here. Everyone else with common sense? Try somewhere else.
Only positive - they do have nice things in their store.
