There's a reason why this is the only park in the middle of a vacation resort town that doesn't fill up~IT'S RIGHT NEXT TO THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT! You may not be able to see this on the map overviews on Google or your other mapping services. The staff is unorganized (it took many phone calls just to get a reservation) and my brother's reservation was lost when he arrived. Every night about 9 Pm the stench of human waste was overbearing (and we were near the entrance of the park!). You may also take note of the hospital right behind the park. This wasn't too bad if you can stand the sound of fans running 24 hours a day. *Note -the park attendant will make excuses that the stench is the hospitals fault-since he's and ex-chemistry teacher and will give you the rundown on the periodic table of elements. Another thing that floored me was that the bathrooms didn't even have soap to wash your hands with! Isn't that against code or something! Otherwise the bathrooms were tolerable as far as camping goes (but I've definitely seen better). And the asphalt path was in desperate need of repair. And as for firewood....you have to go to either the Marathon Station or 7-11 to buy it (But Petoskey State Park provides theirs for free).
Pros: Not many, but it's on the water
Cons: see review comments
