Dining Experience 11/26/2011

Had gone to Maggiano's at the Grove in Hollywood in the past. It was a wonderful experience with excellent food and service. This Maggiano's in Woodland Hills was a disconcerting experience. The waitress kept on intruding. With the salad dressing she would say: :Mypersonal favorit dressing is""- with the sald she would say: MY personal favorite is the chopped salad: This continued on to the main course when she again injected ""MY personal favorite is"". Her suggested with neither solicited nor welcomed. The sauce on my pasta did not have the fresh taste as I had at Maggianos at the Grove. Everything waas mediocre. -I would never go there again! more

Forget catering... 7/12/2011

Never again! I ordered a delivery of food for a party I was having. I initially placed the order with a young man, and was very specific about when I wanted the food delivered...at 6:30, no earlier, as I wanted my guests to have all arrived before the food arrived (I did not want the food overcooked/dried out by the time we ate.). \r \r Well, just as most people don't want guests arriving early, I was really disturbed when the food/caterer woman - not the young man I spoke to - delivered the food at 5:45, much earlier than I wanted. When I complained, she muttered, ""Well this is better to have it set up before your guests arrive."" What? That made me angrier, as I knew what I wanted, and why... Needless to say, when my guests ate at 7:00, as planned, the food had been sitting on the burners over an hour, and every dish was dry, tough, or just plain overcooked. I was so embarrassed, angry, and disappointed, not to mention the waste of my $275.00. + bill. more

Wow 3/9/2009

This place is so overrated!! I had heard from all my friends how great it was so I decided to try it out. I was really disappointed. The food was overpriced, there was barely any of it, and the meatlballs here hard, and the sandwich bread was dried out! I would not reccomend this place to anyone!! The only pro was a nice waiter more

Delicious Italian food in an upscale setting 2/24/2009

I've eaten here 3 times and enjoyed it. I like how the servers are very knowledgeable about the food. They know exactly what's in it, how it's made, and what it's served with. They ask questions and make suggestions which I really appreciate. Most recently I had the chopped salad and it was the best salad I've eaten in about 5 years. Everything was very crisp, the amount of dressing was just right, and it was presented beautifully on a chilled plate. We also ordered the whole wheat pasta (penne) with pesto sauce and chicken. The flavor was fine, I just prefer my pesto sauce thicker. They have wonderful bread and a great marinara sauce too. The atmosphere is upscale but still family and kid friendly. I will definitely eat here again. Pros: knowledgeable wait staff, convenient location inside the mall Cons: location inside the mall makes it not good for carry out more

Attentive service for lunch 12/3/2008

My spouse and I had a fabulous lunch here. Great food quality, server really knew a lot about the preparation and ingredients of the lunch specials and we had a good time. We had calamari, a chopped salad and a breaded shrimp dish - all were great. \r The restaurant was not crowded (thank the economy for that) so of course you'd expect good, quick service - but it was so good that we'll definitely be back. Now, if they would just have more ""lunch special"" kind of meal offerings, it would help us afford to go more frequently. Pros: Easy to get in for lunch Cons: Not the most inexpensive lunch meal you can find in the area more

don't miss the beef medallions with portabella mushrooms 11/19/2006

My husband and I can't resist the beef medallions or the four chees ravioli (have it as the appetizer).\r Great service but it can get busy and you may have to wait if you can't score a seat in the bar.\r Pros: food, staff Cons: sometimes a long wait more

decent italian food in generous portions 11/7/2005

the place is rather large, and so are the portions. i'd recommend the rigatoni D and the garlic shrimp with shells. that in itself is enough food for 4 people. the calamari isn't bad, but a little too deep fried. the steaks are awful, don't listen to what they try to tell you, this isn't a steak house, nor is it steak-house-quality meat. the best part of the place is the fact that they have private rooms which you can rent out for small dinner parties. Pros: large portions, good service Cons: bad steaks more

Great Food! You Can't Go Wrong! 11/20/2002

We went to Maggiano's with high expectations and were very satisifed with every aspect of our dinner. The portions were huge and the food was nothing short of fantasic--I had the Chicken Saltimboca and my wife had the Cannelloni. The appetizer platter is a must so you can try all of the wonderful appetizers. The service was great and our server was very helpful in choosing dishes. The only downside is the noise and the crowds. Definately the best place for Italian in the Valley. more

Nothing to write home about 10/17/2002

Maggiano's serves big portions of Italian food, but it's not very authentic. It's Americanized Italian food. There is nothing very special about the food except that the portions are big and it's very heavy, so don't overeat or you'll be sorry! The heavy cream and sauces will sit in your stomach all night. Service was mediocre, but perhaps it was because it was quite full even on a week night. I would not go back and would not recommend it to my friends. Cons: Not authentic more

family nite to remember 9/4/2002

Every friday nite is family nite with my family. This past Friday we went to Maggiano's. The food was marvelous, the service was outstanding the nite was fantastic! more

high recommendation 7/15/2002

Maggiano's is a typical family-oriented Italian restaurant. It is not a fine, haute cuisine, 5 star quality. It provides a very comfortable and friendly atmosphere for you to relax and enjoy. People usually come in huge groups and I would recommend that you bring friends and co-workers rather than your date. It is always busy and crowded and you get a bustling scene of a busy Italian city street. The service is wonderful i do not know what the other person was talking about. Food is AWESOME. You have to try it at least once. Oh and the portions are HUGE, even if a half size you won't be able to finish your entree. It is like C&O tratattoria in marina del ray but they have a different feel to it. Pros: food, portion, good parking Cons: crowded, menu variety more

Too bad service doesn't match the food 5/24/2002

The food is delicious, some favorites include tuscan style muscles, the spinach or Maggiano's salad, the best lasagna we've ever had from a restaurant, the salmon is also wonderful, and I've never had a dessert there that I wasn't thrilled with. Service on the other hand I have too often found lacking. The ""family style meals"" are only a good deal with exactly 4 people, and they are a terrible deal for kids. With portions the size they have there the kids can always share from regular meals, so to have to pay $12 per kid for the family dinner is disgusting. Cons: mall parking more
