Magazine Beach Shell

After reading a few good reviews, I decided to give Magazine beach shell a try. Unfortunately, my experience was quite different from that of these reviewers (one wonders if they really are unbiased reviewers or shills). When purchasing a used car, I asked these mechanics to take a look at the vehicle to ensure there were no major problems. They gave it a clean bill of health. Two days later, after I got my new plates, the car wouldn't start...turned out it had both a dead battery and, as I discovered 2.5 weeks later, a bad distributor. The second mistake I made was to get the car back to magazine beach shell for diagnosis and repair. They took two weeks to find the problem...and charged me more than $500 for replacing the distributor. This despite the fact that the distributor was *used* and an exchange for the old one...I offered to get a new distributor off eBay for $200 but they refused. All in all, I thought they were quite dishonest, and would rather use say the Good News garage (run by the cartalk people...the only reason I didn't initially use them was because they weren't open they day I wanted to purchase the car). Personally i hate going places where i don't feel welcome. At the Magazine Shell its always a fun time. The mechanics are hilarious and the staff is always really nice. Their work is timely and very good. For example my car broke down and it had to be something with the engine. i brought it to a local shop and they told me i needed a new engine. I had replaced the engine only a year ago, so i knew it couldnt have been that bad. So i brought it to the Shell. Within a day they figured out the problem (cracked air intake manifold) and saved me over 1500 dollars. I was so happy, now I'm back there no matter what. more

I first went to this Gas station a couple of months ago, to get an Inspection Sticker and a Car Check Insurance Appraisal. They were very professional and I was able to get my business done quickly with no hassles.\r \r Since then, I have been gettting gas there and when I needed to have some work done on my car I brought it there. The Station and the Mechanic were honest and fair with regard to the work needing to be done and the price they charged. I would recomend this Service Station. Pros: Honest and Dependable, accessibility is great, right on Memorial Drive Cambridge Cons: I have been there when it gets very busy, the accessibility listed above cuts both ways. more

Magazine shell wow what a great place! They take good car of me and my friends reasonably priced. \r \r like steping back in time good mechanic reasonable priced ....what else could you ask for? Pros: local and they will give you a ride to the red or green line Cons: their gas is not the cheapest but the REPAIRS ARE THE BEST. more
