As the manager of a local group home for developmentally disabled adults I contacted JP Madison about getting one of our african-american residents' hair straightened. JP said he was concerned about his liability in doing that. I inquired about the risks associated with using straightening products. JP was unwilling to say what products he used but he said they are very dangerous and have many health risks including skin problems, burns, and blindness. He asked if she was a "twitcher". I don't know what that means, but I've certainly never heard that term applied to her. After several attempts to have a coherent conversation with JP, and trying to get past his total lack of sensitivity, I tried one more time to ask if there wasn't something he could do to help my resident. He said he didn't think it was a good idea for him to do my residents hair, AND HUNG UP ON ME!! Extremely rude and uncalled for.
