My (now) fiance and I were looking for an engagement ring. Our price range was $10,000-12,000.
Janer Kasar was the only employee available on the Fine Jewelry stand. She could only show me solitaire and three stone rings, after I specifically told her that those are the 2 looks that I don't like. She was completely clueless when it came to color and clarity. Her behavior was as if she's never heard of those terms. Moreover, she failed to provide us with the carat of the center stone alone (for the 3 stone rings.) All she knew was total carats (using the machine.)
She grabbed a 3 stone ring and said that its price is $19,990 ... she started inputting numbers into a calculator and came up with $12,490 within 30-40 seconds. How do you lower a diamond ring's price by more than $6000 in less than a minute?! Something was fishy... we decided do go to NYC and get a ring there. And thank God that we did... I got a 2.5 total carats ring with a GIA certified 1.82 (round center stone) color I, with an excellent cut and polish, no fluoresence and VS2 clarity.
The end result - I'd never look at Macy's ""Fine Jewelry"" stand again, thanks to this woman...
