Best muffalettas and cannolis I have ever tasted. Herbs and Spices freshly ground and await your kitchen. And for your trouble, Mr. Maceo will spin a yarn or two about the history of Galveston, the Maceo family, Hurricane Ike, and the Muffaletta.
The muffaletta was a plate-sized sandwich standing around 3? tall at the center. Filled with Italian salami, ham, and provolone cheese on top of a generous layer of an olive salad similar to tapenade and Mr. Maceo?s family recipe, this sandwich (can you really call it a sandwich), is rich and delicious and creamy and spicy and is so big, Mr. Maceo won?t serve you a whole one unless he knows you can stomach it. No joke, as big as a plate and three inches tall. One should not care to consider the Quiznos/Subways/Schlotskys of the world, as they do not even compare.
Truly this was one of the best experiences of our four day trip to Galveston and we came away with VERY full stomachs and a couple of sacks of spices. Prices are extremely competitive (better than your local grocery). So forget McCormick?s and stop by to support a local ?mom and pop? that deserves it
He who controls the spice, controls the Universe...
Pros: Muffalettas, Cannolis, and Spice...
Cons: None.
