Okay so this review is about the individual store, employees of the store and not the make up. I have no problem with the make up. I made an appointment for my daughter to have her make up done. I was informed that the day she wanted it done they were running a prom special and she would have her skin care provided, make up done by one the MAC professionals. It would take an hour to complete the process. All that was required was a $50 purchase. When I made the appt the employee knew that my daughter was not going to prom. Two days prior to our appt I called to confirm and it came up in the conversation that my daughter would not be going for prom. The employee specifically told me she was scheduled with the prom girls because she was doing the $50 special. We showed for our appointment, I spoke to the consultant about the look my daughter wanted and left to run errands. Which I realize was my mistake. My daughter calls me 30 minutes later crying. She had 15 minutes in the chair, her makeup slapped on, it looked worse than if she had done it herself. AND they charged her the $50 purchase fee for having her make up done. Really. (That would be a dry, flat, sarcastic 'really') When she started to complain about it the manager came over and said the girls in the back are for prom only. Well when I called to make the appointment the employee did not say that as it came up at least twice that she wasn't going for prom! And as a side note as to what else happened while we were there. While the manager was explaining to my daughter and I that the back room was for prom girls only, another customer was yelling a the desk she wasn't going to pay for her make up either because she had an allergic reaction to it. The manager told her she would be expected to buy other products to = the $50 amount. That poor girl just turned on her heel and left. The MAC employees looked around like 'what was her deal?' Can I just say that all this could have been avoided if they had just been honest about the promotion they were offering. I even mentioned that my daughter was not going to prom to our consultant before the make up application was started and she never once told us it would be an abbreviated session. I guess I am just surprised because MAC is supposed to have a good reputation and its not like we weren't going to buy $50 in make up. Its just going in expecting one thing and then given really poor service.
