For casual sushiboats, it's hard to beat 2/26/2007

I've heard pretty mixed reviews of this place, and I can see why some people don't like it. If you want just sashimi, it's average at best. But if you want rolls, and tons to choose from without having to commit to 6-8, you'll love it. I always try new things when I'm there, and never regret it. Boat dishes range from $1-2, so two people can share a filling and adventurous sushi experience for well under $30. I wouldn't bother with the specialty rolls. Pros: the boats are mesmerizing, the sushi is fun, no commitment required Cons: parking is rough, it can get overfull, and they never bring your check w/o you asking. more

cheap eats and very good service 8/12/2006

I went there on monday for lunch. there were not too many guests, so my friend and I sat comfortably with fast service. buni was fun and has many choices like nigari. u need to order sashimi, chicken teriyaki over rice by yourself. when u go there, rememver to ask for a menu before u have sushi. the prices are valued at at least 99c. nice and quiet atomosphere! more

A Great Little Place 10/28/2005

Sakana Bune is my new favorite sushi bar. They are terrifically friendly and service oriented. They gave everyone [4 people] in my party a free scoop of green tea ice cream when we went there for my birthday. The sushi is super fresh. I have never waited for a seat there, but I usually go on a weekday. The prices are so reasonable. I often drop in there for a quick bite..10 pieces of sushi cost me about $10.00. They have a great menu too. I see allot of families there. A real value and an ambient place to eat good fresh sushi. Pros: Very fresh, Friendly staff, Best prices Cons: None, None, None more

Great Cheap Sushi 2/15/2005

YUM!! This is the best cheap sushi find in SF! Pros: Cheap Cons: Hard to Park more

Sakana Bune-- 1/16/2005

Sakana Bune is a great place to get good sushi, as long as you know the best time to go, and aren't timid about ordering from the sushi chefs behind the counter. At off times, like in the early afternoon or late on week day evenings, the selection of sushi dwindles to the ordinary, less-inspired fare. At the peak times, such as weekend evenings, there are often lines to contend with, but have the most fresh sushi in circulation. I would recommend trying to go close to opening time on weekend evenings. Try the honey walnut roll! Oh, and the rivers the sushi boats travel on are a nice accent to the minimal decor. Pros: tasty sushi Cons: , can get pricey more
