Celebrating 80 years of positive energy, Anchorage Municipal Light & Power generates, transmits and distributes electric power to more than 30,000 residential and commercial customers. The utility is subject to economic regulation by the Regulatory Commission of Alaska. ML&P serves a large portion of the commercial and high-density residential areas of Anchorage, including the downtown, midtown, and University-Medical districts, as well as provides power to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. ML&P has a one-third working interest in the Beluga River gas field and sells electricity for resale to other Railbelt utilities outside its service area. ML&P is investing nearly $460 million through 2015 in new power, fuel-efficiency upgrades and renewable energy in order to provide customers with secure, reliable and affordable electric power well into the next generation.
