I enrolled my son and daughter (different ages) in the American Red Cross swim program offered by MCCS Aquatics at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. They had different teachers and class sizes were small (5-6). Lessons were 30 min each everyday from Tues to Fri for 2 weeks straight. These were beginner classes so I didn't expect them to be able to swim on their own at the end of the program. However, they offer six levels so on the recommendation of the instructor, the individual can progress to the next level (both of my kids did). The lessons are actually pretty fun and teaches the kids basic kicks and strokes and how to float on your back. They used a variety of floating devices to build the child's confidence. Friday's were "fun" days -- the kids were allowed to jump off the diving boards and go down the water slide. Overall, a good program but I think it's most effective when you can enroll your kids through the entire program (all levels).
