We wanted a late-night snack since we had a late lunch and wasn't really hungry enough for a full dinner. It was 10 PM, and most of the restaurants were closed. The Lyon's restaurant is open 24 hours, so we went in. They also serve alcohol, so I ordered a Merlot, and my boyfriend ordered a Cabernet Sauvignon. The Merlot was much better than the Cab. We split the Shrimp and Avocado Salad--it's called a Shrimp Louie Salad in most other restaurants--and shared a fried zucchini appetizer. We were very impressed with the fried zucchini dish. It was cut into medallions and deep fried so that they weren't oily at all, just crispy and sprinkled with grated Parmesan cheese. They were so tasty! You didn't even need the ranch dip. You could munch on them dry; they were that good.
Pros: great service, fantastic fried zucchini, Googie architecture
Cons: ambience is roadside diner
