I have been going to this resturant for the past 20 years and have loved it...until last weekend. I ordered pork fried noodles and as I was eating my meal, I found a HUGE finger nail in my food!!! I looked like someone had clipped their nails while on the job in the kitchen. I will NEVER go back there again! more

For the life of me, I cannot understand why people praise this place. 3/7/2008

Lots of food, for sure, but lots of bad food dont make this place good. But, the crowds keep coming. This place recently got reviewed and rightfully slaughtered. The night I was there I ordered Szechwan chicken, and it came out with a gooey, gloppy sauce that was just plain awful. My Asian wife ordered Mongolian beef, and we could not tell what we were eating, it was that bad. Eggrolls are like small missles and nothing but wrapper. I guess if I were to eat Chinese food in Salem, I might head to Kwans, but even that is ok. Go to Portland to Wong Kings, or if that is not possible, you can make it better at home. Best chinese food in town! 1/31/2008

My girl and I love this place. Yeah the prices are a little higher than other places in town but it's worth it for the taste! Best General Tsao chicken I've ever had and it comes in 3 hottnesses lol...seriously - I'm going there now! Pros: fast take out - 15 min after calling! Cons: no delivery :( more

Just okay chinese food. 3/22/2007

Compared to other Chinese restaurants in town Lum Yen's overall flavor fails. The prices are high, and the food is average. On a better note, the decor is nice and the service is polite and fast. Pros: Decor and parking Cons: Food is dim compared to others in town. more

Excellent Chinese 11/23/2006

Excellent Friday special. Great Chinese food. Any of their weekly specials are wonderful. Good, cheap, fast. Can't say enough good things about this place. Pros: Weekly Specials Cons: Not that I can think of more
