Luke Potter Photography

Awful experience. Did not do any research (lesson learned) because 1) I work in the same organization as his parents, 2) worked with his two younger siblings and 3) never thought that anyone could be so unprofessional and cruel. My wife and I chose Luke (great photographer, awful businessman) to take our newborn son's first professional photographs. The pictures were outstanding, if not slow to be put up on his website for print selection (took a month, not the week promised). Finally got to make our selections, paid hundreds down as a deposit and NOTHING. After almost six months, we were forced to dispute the charges on our card because after six months, you are unable to do so. I stumbled upon Luke in February (I think) clearing out his storefront and he claimed he was moving to New York to pursue ""great opportunities,"" but promised to have our prints drop-shipped directly to us within a week. That, of course, never happened. When I threatened a lawsuit if our order wasn't placed, he FINALLY responded to my email (although a week after the deadline I had given him), only to apologize profusely for things being so ""crazy"" and him being ""unable to check his messages"" because he was ""shooting on the road for a major publication."" He promised the prints, a DVD with all of our photos and no need to pay the balance of our order because he had put us through so much trouble. Of course, we have received nothing and I have not heard from him since. I have no idea where Luke really is and what incarnation his newest entrepreneurial venture will take, but for the sake of others, I pray they google him and read these reviews. I have many other stories that I have learned about Luke from his ""friends"" and former classmates, but as they are hearsay and not directly linked to my personal experience with Luke, I will not post them here. Hired in September of 08 for wedding and still have not received wedding images or package paid for. Able to get a hold of a handful of times, but always promised we would have a week later then stopped responding. Even sent certified letter than was returned. Next step sounds like everyone else. Very, very poor experience. Although he is a talented photographer, I've had an extremely frustrating, unprofessional experience with Luke. He is extremely unresponsive, and very, very flakey. Although I paid in full for his services, I have yet to ANYTHING from the package I purchased, and have been trying to contact him for months and months. The challenge with NOT getting what you paid for from a photographer, is that I’m walking the fine line of begging for my wedding pictures, or pursuing legal action. I will never get that day back – and am extremely disappointed that it seems as though I will never get the photos from that day. Please don’t use Luke Potter, you will be very disappointed. more

I wish we would have done a bit more research on Luke before hiring him as our wedding photographer. Luke's pictures are awesome, unfortunately, he's an absolute flake. We paid Luke in full for his services over 5 months ago and still have nothing to show for it. He doesn't respond to emails, voice mails or text messages. If you actually DO manage to speak with him, he simply blows smoke to get you off his back and doesn't deliver on his promises. I just hope other couples research reviews of Luke's ""business"" before hiring him so they can avoid having the same terrible experience we've had. Luke Potter Photography is an unprofessional operation. He was my wedding photographer in Dec. 08 and I am pursuing legal action against him due to how poor my experience has been–I’m still waiting for items I’ve already paid him for, and it’s JULY 09!!!! He doesn’t return calls/emails, doesn’t follow-up when he needs to–the works. In my quest to gather information, I found that there are EIGHT complaints about him with the Ohio bureau for better business. If you are looking for an Athens photographer, I strongly recommend you at least do your homework with the bureau for better business before choosing this guy!
