I eat out all the time. This is one of my top fives in slc. the service has always been outstanding! the atmosphere is great and the food is to die for. The portions are bigger than I would expect but I would reccomend this to everyone!! Take out of towners here!! Pros: great food, great service Cons: small, make reservs more

Surprizingly well rounded menu. The chef comes out and visits with you. Second closest to the ""real"" Italian cusine in Utah. Very nice. more

Very pleased. My wife and I have been looking for great Italian since we moved from California 6 mo. ago. I'd say this is the best we've had here in UT. The service was friendly and inviting - the chef paid a visit to our table during the meal to check on everything. The food was wonderful. The salmon was great and the Fusili w/ basil and italian sausage was fantastic! more

My husband went to Italy for two years on a LDS mission. Since he has been home, he has become very picky about Italian resturants. Lugano's is the only Italian resturant he has taken me too. After eating here, I realize how Americanized the other Italian resturants are. This place is wonderful. It is such a cozy and romantic place. I give it two thumbs up! Honorable Mention 8/26/2002

Although I wouldn't call Lugano the ""best"" restaurant in the valley, it is definitely worthy of being dubbed honorable mention. My only qualm is in the service. Not much of a needy guy myself but the people here are almost too overzealous to clear plates and/or silverware that don't need clearing. One dish was even whisked off without our table having finished it yet! But the dishes are superb. Lamb shank: 10. Pork loin: 9.5. Mussels in claypot: 9.5. Rosemary chicken: 8 (bit too dry). Ravioli specials: 9. Wine list: 8.5. Not as substantial as Fresco but better than Caffe Molisse. Pros: easy parking, friendly hostess, nice locale Cons: too overzealous, water tastes funny more

A Little Italy 8/8/2002

With it's charming ambiance, (a cozy little house turned restaraunt), and excellent cuisine (generous protions, rich sauces and savory meats) Lugano brings a little bit of Italy to the Salt Lake Suburbs. The service is just my style; enough personal attention that my needs were met promptly and I did not feel intruded upon or rushed. I was well taken care of and the owner / chef put a nice finish on the experience by finding time to personally greet every guest in his ""home."" more

Lugano Restaurant is definitely the best restaurant that we have tried in Utah. Flavorful Northern Italian food with a very diverse menu from Steak, pasta, pizza, and seafood. They have a wood burning oven that adds incredible flavor to many of their dishes, and they use the freshest ingredients! The service is great and the price is too! It is perfect for a casual quick evening or a special night out. It won best New Restaurant 2001 and Best Italian 2002. Try it! You'll like it! more

Every time we have dined at Lugano, we have not only enjoyed the food, but also the experience as a whole. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable about the menu and helpful in suggesting wines that will complement our entree selections. Excellent wine list! I also appreciate that Greg, the owner, is there overseeing the kitchen, service, presentation and clientele satisfaction of his personal pride and joy. The decor is delightful. Definitely a place to bring out of town visitors for a taste of class in Utah. No matter how full, you must splurge with the Creme Brulet which is perfect.and the Tiramisu that melts in your mouth! For those who dont bother to make a reservation.expect to wait, as you should. After all, this isnt the drive up at McDonalds! more

Fabulous food 5/16/2002

I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at this Holladay restaurant. I brought a friend who was visiting from New York to Lugano and we enjoyed a wonderful meal in a very comfortable space. Delicious mussles with wonderfully crusty bread made for a great appetizer.
