Lufkin Lanes

My company decided to go bowling for our late celebrated Christmas party. The owner himself cussed out our Manager using the F word and was so completely off his rocker. This man has no business dealing with the public. ThAt explains a lot looking at the condition his building is in. He does not care anything a out the local people who pay for a way to have a little entertainment in their busy work schedules. Don't worry buddy. We won't be bothering you for anything again. You really showed your colors tonight. All of Lufkin should be aware of your kind of hospitality. more

This place was terrible. For 6 people to bowling hour it was $70. I have never paid that much ever to bowl. And that's even at nicer quality bowling alleys. We were assigned a lane and had to wait for the people to get done bowling to start. They left all of their cups and trash on the table. For the hour we paid for the lanes were messing up for the majority of it. Just was not an enjoyable atmosphere and I will not go back. more

There have been alot of changes since the last review of Lufkin Lanes, first of which is the overall look. This place has never looked better, and with the new renovations there is alot more room to move around. The lanes are no longer sticky as one person wrote and the staff is always ready to help you in any way they can. They are also taking steps to help out in the community, such as their kids bowl free campaign this summer, where they are giving 2 free games to all kids who sing up every day of the summer. This is wonderful for parents looking for a fun activity to do with the kids (and parents can sing up for the same for a small 1 time fee), and the bar will be closed during the day for the kids to bowl from what I've been told. They now also have security in place for the late nights, which is a relief. All around improved and a great place for friends and family to go, know I will go back. more

So 2 friends got together to write a little of their own bias about Lufkin Lanes. Yes, I went to your website to see who the heck you 2 felllas are. Can't imagine why anyone would want to join Judy's book. Thank God this is America. The lanes have been around since 1970 when Cornie Otteson came to town and opened Lufkin Lanes. It was a complete mess. Over the years different renovations have been done to improve the family atmosphere (new balls,new shoes,new lane machines, updated game room,new large screen TV's and monitors, and new carpet,paint,and snack bar equipment, also children's and adult birthday parties with pizza and soft drinks. There is now a separate bar if you want to have a beer or two while you bowl. (Quite a few Lufkinites) do enjoy drinking a beer when they bowl. I have seen the lanes since 1970 and am still bowling today. Bill and his son Kory have done a tremedous job this past year in getting ready for the fall leagues. And yes, it does get pretty dirty at times, and people can understand why the staff pulls out vacuum cleaners, mops, brooms every morning and after they close at night. It's a great place to take your family or date and enjoy a pizza, play a video game or two and bowl a game. Sometimes the kids do better than the adults. Kory O is the owner's son, so bias is going to be strong. This place is poorly maintained. If you happen to get a lane that works, you will be lucky if you don't injure yourself trying to bowl, as the approaches are often left dirty and sticky; you are more than likely to stick and fall. Too much money was spent installing a bar and hosting rap concerts, and too little has gone towards maintaining it. I will not return until they make it safe to bowl there. more

Lufkin Lanes is one of the smallest bowling alleys that I have ever been in but it works. The woman that was working there was extremely friendly. We went on a Sunday night and it wasn't crowded at all. We got to choose between paying 2.95 per game or paying by the hour which was $17.00. By the time we figured out how much it would be for all of us to bowl it was cheaper to do it by the hour. To rent shoes from them was $2.25. We played there jukebox out. We rented played for 2 hours there and must have stuck 30 bucks in the jukebox. They do need to add mores songs to their selection though. We were running out of songs to play. Its a cute place and the atmosphere wasn't bad at all. more

Bowling is a fun activity the whole family can enjoy. the local bowling activity is easy to locate, and there is plenty of parking available. However, they could use some updating. The decor is a bit dingy and most of the shoes need to be replaced. There tends to be the smell of smoke in the air, which I do not care for. On the plus side, there are other games to play in addition to bowling. Also, the prices are fairly reasonable. more

This bowling alley is nothing special, but I LOVE that they have smoke free sundays because most of the time you can't go there because you can't breathe if you do. They have specials and their prices aren't too bad. They are outdated because they use pvs pipes as their bumpers and if you need them the balls area always getting stuck on them and you constantly have to call for help. It's a fun place, but nothing extra special. more
