I will NEVER go back 12/7/2011

I spent $500 for a visit that was supposed to cost $150-200. I had them put in an IUD for me, the initial visit was $120 for me to sit with the doctor for 10 min and her to ask me if I was sure that I wanted an IUD. They did not run tests or even give me a physical. Then wants the IUD came in I had to chase down the lady that had to set up my appointment. After the doctor inserted the IUD she said that she wanted to make sure she put it in the correct place and ask me to go upstairs to get it checked. They ended up do an ultrasound on me. When I went to checkout, the front deck told me that I owed an extra $200 for the ultrasound. I am a college student with a very tight budget and I pay all of my own bills plus school. I felt extremely taken advantage of and the doctor that was not personable. I will never go back it was a horrible experience. Girls avoid at all costs there has to be better doctors in Harrisonburg more

Horrible Experience 4/30/2009

My husband and I found out we were pregnant and made an appointment with Harrisonburg obgyn, simply because thats where everyone I know had went. My first appointment was with Dr Whitten, He was great! He actually sat and discussed everything with us and was just so nice, and friendly. (If he could be my only doctor, I would go back) Our next appointment came a little sooner than expected because of some weird spotting. Turns out baby didn't have a heartbeat an had stopped growing. Dr Nelson was our dr that day. He was very rude and ""cut throat,"" He walked into the room after our ultrasound and didn't introduce himself or anything and before the door shut said ""well..this pregnancy isn't going to be a good one."" He then told us that we had two options, either we let nature take its course and eventually my body would expell the fetus, or we could do a D&C so that the experience could be as mentally as painless as possible. I asked him if he was sure that I was having a miscarriage. and he smiled and said with a almost laugh ""this is your first pregnancy isn't it?"" Well we ended up deciding to go with the D&C after it became mentally straining for me to see everything happening. We called the hospital to let them know we were coming, when Dr Slusher told me to ""take some aleve and stick it out."" After everything was said and done I had a follow up appointment with a Dr Loynes, who tried to do an ultrasound on me..turns out my d&c for a miscarriage wasn't even in my file. Very Unproffessional. I felt sorry for her because she was highly embarrassed when I told her I had had a D&C. Needless to say I wont be returning with future pregnancies, next time I will go to Shenandoah womens Health care. more
