Beautiful Theater 8/16/2005

This is one of the few theaters I've been in where the building itself rivaled the show I was seeing. It's the sort of place that can take you back in time and when you put that together with the classic movies that they show each year, it's quite the experience. If you're the type of person that wishes for those good old days to come back, head to this theater and watch Gone with the Wind or a Hitchcock film. The theater takes you back to the days when these films would have been shown in theaters like this all across the country. It's quite something. more

AMAZING!! 8/11/2005

I've enjoyed performances in theaters all over the world and I've never been in one as beautiful as the Louisville Palace!! It's very special to go to a venue that is so wonderfully restored. New buildings don't receive this type of artistic design so it's not everyday you're a building that makes you feel like you're in a different time or a different land as soon as you walk in the door. I've never had a bad seat in the theater and it has wonderful acoustics as well. Plus, they show old movies in the summer. How fun is that?! :) more

It is beautiful!!!! 8/9/2005

This is just a beautiful place to see a show. The inside of the theater (where the seating is) reminds you of watching a show outside. They have the ceiling painted to look like the night sky! It is so pretty! They offer live acts/concerts (I have seen the comic Gallagher there) and during the summer, they show old movies. This summer, they are showing Alfred Hitchcock movies. more

Louisville Palace Theatre 7/30/2005

The Louisville Palace is located on 4th Street in downtown Louisville. It used to be the United Artist Theatre when it opened in the 1920's at a cost of 2 million dollars. When you first see the theatre from the outside, it doesn't seem very impressive. Once inside however, it takes your breath away. It is decorated in the Spanish baroque style with bold colors, plater busts and vaulted ornate ceilings. The Palace has both concert and theatre events throughout the year and still shows movies at certain times. This facility can also be rented for special events. It is worth admission price to an event just to check out the decor. more
