I never had both horrible food and service from the same place. Our food was bland and greasy- our service was less than acceptable. I have tried many vietnamese restaurants, this one I will never come back to. more

Best Food Around 11/2/2010

My family has been going to the Lotus for 20 years! They are, by far, the best around! Their cuisine is so different and flavorful, and the ambiance is comfortable. We recently moved away from Vernon, and miss it terribly! No place like that in North Carolina! We'll be up for a visit shortly, and we will deifinitely be eating dinner there!!! more

Our Favorite Restaurant 11/6/2007

This is in our opinion our favorite place to eat dinner. We always have a great meal here and can count on the excellent quality and taste of the food served here by the very qualified waitstaff. The Spring Rolls and the Shrimp Pillows are great appetizers and the Hen Allspice, Almond Chicken, and Sweet and Sour Chicken are our favorite meals. The restaurant is inviting and comfortable. more

Best restaurant in Vernon Ct 7/2/2007

I would give this restaurant 5 stars. The food is excellent, the service is very prompt and professional, and the restaurant is extremely clean. I always try something new, and I am never disappointed. It is a nice quiet setting. It is perfect for a date, or just a nice dinner with a friend. My father and I have been a customer here for years. Now it has become my best friends favorite place to eat. I moved to Texas a year ago, and I have been CRAVING the Lotus ever since I left! I cant wait to move back home again, and be able to eat here again! It is absolutely my favorite place to eat! Pros: awesome food, great service, clean, quiet setting Cons: not open for lunch more

I can't understand why anyone would give this restaurant less than 5 stars. I'm a local and this has been my (and most of my friends) absolute favorite restaurant ever since they opened, Further, It's been highly rated by Zagat for years. Pros: ambience, service, clean, good food Cons: no lunch more

Not Vietnamese, not cheap! 12/28/2005

The food was very Chinese, not vietnamese. Curry, beef and peas over rice, seafood over rice, and pork over cheap 10 cent american ramen noodles. My beef curry came with potatoes and tasted bland like stew. Pork noodles were so cheap and flimsy. Seafood had a classic chinese sauce and was ok. Beef & peas tasted like flamebroiled american steak. With drink, appetizer (oily spring roal) & dish, it was $17/person. Pros: Local, Quiet Cons: Food, Price more

We're from California, where even fine dining Vietnamese meant dishes like vermicelli bowls, pho, and spring rolls along with the rest of the menu of stir-fry family style dishes, but they didn't have any of the staples. The menu looked more Thai than Vietnamese, and the soft noodle dishes only resembled vermicelli bowls. On the other hand, the decor is very nice, service was prompt, and the portion sizes were large. This place was good, but the food seemed more Chinese than Vietnamese. I was surprised when they didn't have spring rolls, only the (deep-fried) egg rolls. To be fair, I didn't try them, although the waitress claimed they were top-rate. Went with a group of about 10 and they were accomodating and my friends were impressed. more
