Events have issues. We held a bridal shower ""tea"" recently at Lotus. The experience was unpleasant and the proprietor unprofessional.
After discussing/negotiating menu and cost with the proprietor on a Saturday, we put down a deposit. We asked for a written confirmation of the menu items and options and a breakdown of the cost, and were supposed to be sent information via email, since it was ""dinner time"". After multiple attempts via phone and email to get this information over the next week, I was able to contact the owner the following Friday who then informed me that she could not accommodate the menu that had been agreed upon for the price. She increased the price by 20% via phone and, on a follow up email, further decreased the menu items (instead of 2 desserts, only one would be part of the menu). At this point, we considered a change of venue, however the invitations had been sent. We still did not get a detailed breakdown of the cost as requested.
When I sent in the final head count, I asked if the 2nd dessert item be returned to the menu. Note: the only itemized listing that was ever exchanged, one that I attempted to put together from everything that had happened and asked her to review for accuracy, was included in this email. The request for the 2nd dessert item was met by an emotional response from the proprietor over multiple phone calls where she called me ""Outrageous"" and actually hung up on me. I did not raise my voice, or use offensive language, I was merely trying to understand the details of the cost and menu since they were not supplied in writing and they seemed to be continually changing.
We were not permitted to bring a basket of favors and drop them off early on the day of the event.
Finally, we did not get the food that we ordered. One of the 3 tiers of food we were supposed to get was scones with ""house-made"" jams. No Jam was served. (Another menu deletion?) One of the tiers was dessert and supposed to include ""assorted chocolate truffles"". The assortment consisted of one type of truffle.
If you enjoy extra stress and a lack of communication when planning your event, I can recommend this place. The servers were nice and the food was good, although overpriced. If you want to have less stress, go elsewhere.
