I went to the Barrios for the first time ever after hearing about it. I was expecting a mom and pop type place where the staff is friendly and the food is tasty. Well the puffy ta...

Los Barrios the best of all SA's Barrios 12/14/2005

Los Barrios has the best mexican food in SA! I love the Tacos a la Diana plate. The service is always polite and the owners always add the personal touch by coming to your table! Very personable! Feels like family. La Hacienda de Los Barrios is so San Antonioish-excellent! Tortillas are always super yummy! When I visit SA, this is my fav! Too bad Austin doesn't have mexican food this good!I recommend Los Barrios to all who visit SA! Pros: No wait time, atmosphere, good parking more

Always the best 10/19/2005

I started coming to Los Barrios in the mid-80's when all they had was that one room, basically. I moved away from SA for a number of years and when I came back I headed straight to Los Barrios. It was huge and pink! I was so upset! Until I ate the enchiladas! The food is still the same! It's the best overall Tex-Mex in SA in my book! I bring everyone who visits there! In fact, I'm taking 2 out-of-towners tonight! Pros: Food, Ambience, Prompt seating Cons: noisy more

Not my style 7/25/2005

I am probably one of the few people in San Antonio who did not like Los Barrios. The service was pathetic, the food was without flavor and with more grease than any other Mexican restaurant I have eaten. The margaritas were below average. I would recommend several other restaurants besides Los Barrios. more

It's a coin toss 5/17/2005

Depends on the day or the phase of the moon whether the service will be good or in need of repair. The family owned and supervised place is a standard for San Antonio. Quality is consistant and deserves a thumbs up. Parking is the pits however. The neighborhood is not as bad as your vibes tell you Pros: food, service, price Cons: parking, location, lighting more

Second Time Around Not Good 5/19/2003

Service was slow. Overcrowded. Waitress kept forgetting about us. Food was average. Really surprised because first visit was excellent. Maybe we went on a bad day. It was after church and very busy. more

Best in town! 1/5/2003

Go to Los Barrios. It's the best in SA. The owners seem to live there and have always come to my table to see how my family's food is that night. Enchiladas poblanas are my fave food in the world. The cheese enchiladas have a drug like hold on my wife. My kids could live on their rice, beans and tortillas. Is it sometimes tacky? Yep. Sometimes too spicy for wimpy Austinites and other out of towners? Darn straight. But that's because this is a real SA place loved by locals. more

not good this time 8/26/2002

We ate there Sunday and only 1 person finished their meal. The guacamole was really warm, the borraho beans(sp) were off, my guisada was so so and our waitress was not very nice. The 1 son got 2 cheese enchilades ala carte and loved them. Maybe we got the last end of something but the last 2 times we went were iffy. Had a delicious meal in June..so did my brother who was visiting...lp Pros: cheese enchilades, cool air conditioning, good fans Cons: parking, iffy on the refills more

Authentic 8/11/2002

Best Mexican food next to Mom's, owners are very friendly and make you feel at home. Pros: good food, excellent staff, outgoing owners Cons: parking, crowded more

Mucho Good 8/8/2002

This resturant sticks out because of its flavorful dishes and exceptional menu. The family has kept using the old family recipies not just basic texmex food. Pros: Fun, Fast, Tasty Cons: crowded more
