This is, for persons used to Mexican food, a very different sort of Latino experience. The ambience is funky, vaguely South American, very pleasant and not too loud inside. If you order "Nuevo Latino Salsa" ($6 for 3 persons) the waitperson comes to your table with a mixture of spices and a pepper and grinds the stuff up into a salsa at table side using a mortar and pestle. Truthfully it tastes a lot better than what I'm used to at Pepe's or El Torito. Most of the items are not quite standard Mex fare, i.e. Guava BBQ Ribs, Banana Leaf Baked Snapper Fillet ($23), Chorizo-Shellfish platter. My experiences have been primarily dinner, but always very satisfactory and quite interesting and exotic.
