Great food, great service! 2/25/2012

A few friends recently recommended Long Grove Cafe as a great place to enjoy a meal. After taking up their suggestion, I took a few friends of mine down there for some fantastic food in a pleasant atmosphere. My wife and I really enjoyed their grilled calamari and we all passed around some delicious crab cakes (with real crab meat). The dinner we had was excellent; everyone enjoyed their meal. The depth of their wine list, was a pleasant delight and I found a few wines I had never heard of. With a few recommendations from the waitress, it rounded off a great meal. My only warning, beware of hungry ducks! Overall, great food, wonderful scenery (even in February!) and great service. I highly recommend! more

Terrible Service 12/26/2011

Service is TERRIBLE! The hostess gave us an option of waiting 15 minutes for a table or sitting at the bar. We sat at the bar, ordered soft drinks and then the bartender left to serve drinks to people in the dining room. After sitting at the bar for 10 minutes, I asked the hostess if she could take our order, she turned to the owner and asked him to take our order, and then the owner asked the bartender to take our order. The bartender didn't come back to the bar so after waiting almost 20 minutes we walked out. I work in Long Grove and will NEVER return to the Long Grove Cafe. If they want customers to return they need to hire more staff. Sitting in the bar I noticed several tables that were not cleared and they had at least 8 people waiting for a table. Enzo and Lucia is the best place in town down Long Grove to eat. more
