This is the perfectplace for a few friends, a date or a family outting for some real food. The decor is one of a kind and the patio doesn't get much better. It's just a good place...

FISH TACO'S 5/7/2008

This is the ONLY place to get a fish taco. I will never get one anywhere else, the sauce that goes with is to die for...also the fish burrito is delicious. This place is a gem. Pros: fresh fish daily, quick, DELICIOUS, patio, authentic Cons: none... more

It's all I can think about... 5/3/2008

Amazing. Incredible. Fantastic. Great. The list could go on... If you want to better your day and your life, go here. It is the best!!! Pros: Food is amazing, service is fast and friendly, ambience has a nice, laid-back vibe! Cons: Just a personal con, it's far away from my house. I may relocate just to get closer to this fine eatery!! more

Two words ""Fish Tacos"" 5/2/2008

If you want the best fish taco you have ever eaten, give this place a try. A fellow co worker took me here and it was fantastic. I'm not originally from here but this place is a Utah gem. Pros: Fish taco more

Tastes so good I cry. 12/8/2007

I LOVE Lonestar. I stumbled upon it my first night alone in Salt Lake City when I became a ski bum, and I've been going back a couple of times a month ever since. In that time, they've raised the price of the fish/shrimp tacos about 30 times, but they're still worth it. The fish is always perfectly seasoned, the cilantro aioli perfects the tacos, and the crispy cabbage cools off the burn when you put too much salsa roja on. Guac is excellent and made fresh, chips are thick and crunchy, salsa bar offers a wide variety, the staff are very friendly and recognize me when I come in, and they've got beer! I love the atmosphere, decor, location, everything! Of course parking's tight, but like others have said, it's worth the walk. Seems I always want a Dos Equis and a fish taco after hitting the slopes on Sundays, though... Pros: FOOD! They serve beer, convenient location, decor/ambience, fast service Cons: tight/limited parking, prices go up every coupla months, it seems more

I miss this place sooooo much! 11/12/2007

I moved back to the East Coast. Last meal I had in Utah? Lone Star. What do I miss? Hellagood jalepeno Mayo, not fried fish, even the thick, homemade chips are the BOMB! There is no parking? Does not matter. Park elsewhere and walk if you have to. It is totally worth it. Thinking of buying a plane ticket just to go back and have one! MMmmmmm! If you ever consider opening one in DC, let me know! Pros: Food, glorious food! Cons: There is just one. more

Get the shrimp tacos! 5/5/2007

Lone Star Taqueria is the best mexican-stye food in Utah. The shrimp tacos are amazing. I also love the avacado cream dressing that goes along with all the tacos. more

best burrito on earth 3/2/2007

This one of those places that if you've never been to you need to check it out, if you've been there before you're probabley hooked. You'll begin to jones for lonestar all the time and find yourself trying not to eat there for every meal, every day. Everyone loves the fish taco, but the best deal for the dollar is the half fish burrito. more

So Delicious 12/1/2006

Best quick mexican food anywhere. They have daily fish specials for the tacos and burritos. Snapper, salmon, you name it. You can order half-burritos that will stuff you, but you can finish it. They are all around $4-6 bucks. The salsa bar is wonderful. You can also order grilled jalepenos for under a dollar and they pair wonderfully with everything. Everything on the menu is fresh, authentic and delicious. Try it, you will be so happy you did. Pros: fish, salsa, jalepenos Cons: busy during ski season more

Best Fish tacos in Salt Lake 10/30/2006

Relatively small location provides simple yet very good tasting Mexican food. Fresh fish is selected daily for the fish tacos. Pros: Fish tacos Cons: relatively small dining area more

Wish I found it sooner! 2/18/2006

Went to Lone Star today based on reviews on this site. We were thrilled to find that it was finally what we were looking for. Just a basic place with a burrito I can pick up and eat with my hands! I had the broiled chicken burrito. Delicious, and the first time I have seen a bean in SLC that wasn't refried. If you like the basics done right, this place seems to fit the bill. Although expensive (About $6 for a burrito), the burrito was huge and worth it. Plus side, they even have beer, and a drive-thru! more

The absolute best place to go for fish tacos. They're scrumptious!!! more

Muy Fantastico! 3/13/2004

Hands down, one of the BEST taco stands I have ever been to. If you think its too expensive - its NOT. If you want cheap Mexican food - go to taco bell! The fish tacos are the most amazing thing on the menu. The chips are fabulous and authentic! Those who don't like them have never had home made tortilla chips. Great salsa, great atmosphere. It was a life-saver for me. I moved from So. Cal and was SO happy to find a truly authentic and quality restaurant. GO, GO, GO - you will NOT be disappointed. Pros: Great food!, Great chips, Great salsa! Cons: , not opened on Sunday more

Top Notch 1/29/2003

This is the greatest eatery in the valley! Found it through an article in Sunset Mag. From out of town and have been back 20-30 times. Best fish tacos outside of Ensenada. Go Eat There! Pros: Great Food, Good Prices., Great Location Cons: handicap access sucks more

Not a lot for your buck! 1/6/2003

Lone Star Taqueria does have decent food, but the prices are out of control. 1 Fish taco (small) with rice and beans is $6. Their website should be updated with their prices b/c their burritos are $6-$7 now. A taco is $2.50, and it would take 3 to fill you up. Their chips were stale and hard too. The food is nothing to rave about and the prices are inflated. I suggest you hit the Reg Iguana on N. Temple for some tasty Mexican food worth the price. Pros: quality ingredients Cons: expensive, small portions more

O Give Me a Home? 12/24/2002

Buffalo roam, coyotes howl at the moon, and this friendly little beanery and taco joint brings back all the ambience of a Trail Ride to Kansas from Fort Worth Stockyards. The salsa is easily digested, having been canned/boiled/whatever sometime shortly after Grant became President. Here in Texas, where I live now, we eat that sort of salsa and holler "" Get a rope!"" and mean it. Emjoy the burritos and enchaladas. They are better than a Swanson TV Dinner. Barely. Viva Utah!! more

best burritos in town! 10/17/2002

The food at this place is amazing! Anything you order is going to be fabulous. I reccomend getting a pint of beans and rice to take home so you can enjoy Lone Star during the week!! Great after a day of skiing during the winter, and there is nothing better than getting a burrito and a Corona on the patio during the summer! more

I could Live here 10/14/2002
