Lollypop Farm in Trouble? 7/22/2010

I used to volunteer and contribute money to Lollypop Farm. My involvement there exposed me to many disturbing trends, ultimately too many to just be a coincidence. I saw staff firings surrounded in secrecy, discrimination and other lawsuits, claims of sexual misconduct by their CEO, severe regulatory and legal non-compliance, and most disturbing, the fact nearly all staff agree with Lollypop’s mission, but acutely loathe the organization and their CEO. The last straw was Lollypop embarking on a $4 million remodel of their ten year old shelter. With thousands of animals still being exterminated unnecessarily every year, I could no longer give my time or money to this organization. Rochester needs a spay and neuter clinic that is affordable, we need a shelter near our home in Greece, we need leaders that speak the truth and act with integrity. I think Lollypop has become too fat. They have lost sight of the fact they are here to serve the unwanted pets of our community, not to exterminate them and keep getting bigger and richer no matter what the cost. \r Pros: Millions in the Bank Cons: Board and CEO Leadership more

animal wonderland 12/6/2005

Lollipop farm is a wonderful place for animals not wanteed ,lost or found. well taken care of and people are scanned before alowwing them to adopt so to be sure the animal has a good home. It is alos great to visit with outdoor animals such as horses, pigs, goats, cows and llamas. Stop in.you'll have to pull yourself away and struggle not to leave with a new friend more

Great Place 11/3/2005

I love Lollypop Farm. They are wonderful to animals. I loved taking my son here to see the animals. Its almost like a mini zoo. They have everything from chickens to Llamas to horses and sheep. They have a great selection of Dogs, Cats and bunnies too. Adoption fees are pretty reasonable. I will never purchase an animal from a pet store again. more

adoption center 9/6/2005

This is probably the best pet adoption facility in the entire state of New York. They have many pets up for adoption including kittens, cats, puppies, dogs, small animals, and even large animals. The site is large and includes an outdoor area with pigs, goats, deer, horses, cows, and other barnyard animals. A trip here is like a trip to the zoo. Even if you arent going to adopt it is still worth the trip if you like animals. If you are going to adopt they have many pets up for adoption and can find you a match for your lifestyle and wants. Unfortunately they always have a ton of animals so think about going here before you go to pet store for your next cat. more

This is the best place ever! 7/18/2005

The place is always clean. The animals look very well cared for. They train animals in obedience. I like the way they investigate people and their homes before an animal is placed. It shows they care. If you are interested in adopting an animal you won't be dissapointed if you go here. They will work with you to help you pick an animal that is good for you and your family and your living situation. more

Humane Society 6/30/2005

Humane Society at Lollypop Farm is very clean, the animals always look well taken care of, the staff is very friendly and willing to answer any questions you may have and they seem to genuinely seem to really care about the animals in their care. I got one of my 2 cats there... the other cat I got at another Humane Society. I would definitely adopt from here again! PROS: Well trained staff and Veternarians CONS: They unfortunately have many many animals to be adopted more

adoption placement 6/2/2005

About 2 months ago we adoped a dog from them. The staff was very patient with us while we were deciding between two dogs. Two employees helped us come to our decision and Im so glad they spent that time with us. We found a perfect pet for our family and I believe it was because of the help they gave us. more
