At age 19 I had to undergo surgery to remove a cyst on my ovary. I had been told for months that the cyst was on my right ovary. Dr. Ryu was very personable and I got along with him great. After my surgery, I found out that the cyst was the size of a nerf football and actually on my left ovary. He was having a hard time finding the blood supply around my right ovary and nearly cut my ovary out to remove the cyst but then remembered that I had told him my pain was on my left side. Apparently the cyst had been on the left side the whole time but was too large to see the blood supply with an ultrasound. He had to remove my left ovary due to the fact that the cyst had cut off its blood supply, but had he not listened to me and been thoughtful throughout surgery, I could have been left without any ovaries at only 19. \r

When I returned for my followup appointment a couple of smaller cysts were found on my right ovary and Dr. Ryu was kind enough to offer me as many options as possible. While he was confident that I would not lose this ovary as well, he gave me contact information for a fertility specialist and supported me throughout the process. He frequently called me to check up on my progress and was just a fantastic doctor all around. I am now 24 and pregnant with my first baby and I give a lot of that credit to Dr. Ryu, although unfortunately I no longer live in the area and cannot use his services.\r

On the other hand, I have a friend whom was seeing Dr. Houck and she felt as though Dr. Houck was judgemental and not understanding of her needs. I have heard great things about Dr. Loftus.
