Having read in the Charleston Insider's guide that Locklear's had a number of ""Heart Choice health conscious"" items on their menu, I eagerly visited their website, fully expecting a menu full of broiled, grilled, sauteed fish and fresh, steamed veggies. But found, instead, mostly fried fish. And, what wasn't fried, smothered with butter or cream based sauces. And, instead of the steamed veggies, I found corn fritters, fried okra, potatoes and rice. The menu was filled with fried, or otherwise fatty, entrees and high gycemic, starchy sides. Nothing heart healthy that I could see. Just the usual fish-house fare that can be found anywhere, usually at a better price. So, I sent an email, asking why there weren't any steamed veggies. And, received an extremely arrogant, obnoxious reply from their chef, Lance Howard. Acusing me of wanting a discount. Discount? With his attitude, you couldn't pay me to eat there. Transplant from the North? I was only born in Massachusetts because my Georgia native parents were living there while my father attended Harvard. And, FYI, Lance, I've never heard anyone from Massachusetts say ""youse."" Just one cousin, by marriage, from New Jersey. And, a friend from Ohio. I would advise anyone from up North to avoid Locklear's. Apparently Lance is still fighting the Civil War!And, that sucker's been over for 150 years.
