BEWARE!!! THIS MECHANIC IS A CROOK!!! I recently paid him $800.00 for 4 new brakes and rotors, which in itself is overpriced, but I figured I was already there and I wouldn't have to wait, so I agreed to pay. Now, a few months later, I had new tires put on my car at another shop, and they told me I need new brake pads and rotors in the rear. I told them that I just had new ones put on a few months ago. They showed me that the front ones were brand new, and the rear ones were old, and rusty with pieces falling off. They also showed me how the rear ones are powdercoated, as they come from the car factory. It was clear by the appearance that they were much older and worn than the ones in the front.
So he charged me an inflated price for 4 brake pads and rotors, and only installed 2 brake pads and rotors.
I went to him today, with the old brake pads and rotors to show him. I told him that I would give him the benefit of the doubt, that maybe it was a mistake and he just forgot. when I asked for half my money back, he said that it was impossible for him to make such a mistake. I asked for his contact information, and the contact information for the owner of the gas station. He refused to give it to me and he kicked me out of the store.
Now I am going to report him to the consumer fraud division, and tell everyone I can about this thief. I would hate to see other people ripped off as I was, or worse, have their life endangered by this mechanic who only pretends to change brake pads. Also, when I got the brakes done, he offered a higher price for credit cards or checks and a lower price for cash, so I think I will report him to the IRS as well.
