Fans of Mexico's heavy meat-filled masa matriarchs: don't get your tamales here. The Corn Maiden tent tamales are petite and elite, skipping the thick, greasy street-tamale cheeses and using non-traditional ingredients like smoked gouda cheese, grilled vegetables and blue corn. My goat cheese, sun-dried tomato, and basil tamale came prettily wrapped with a bow on top and spicy salsa on the side. (And $3.50 is a great steal, as the Thursday Arts District/Little Tokyo Farmers Market usually boasts pretty expensive eats.)
