Little River Fishing Fleet

We booked a Gulf Stream trip, showed up on time, paid for 3 people, walked down to the boat, and stood there for 15 minutes. We questioned something wasn't right when they were getting the small 40ft vessel ready for us, rather than the 90ft typical ""head boat."" \r Finally, the captain (who had walked by us three times) stopped and said we weren't going to be able to go all the way to the Gulf Stream due to weather offshore, but we would go half-way (same as a half-day trip). He said we could have our money back or just go for a half-day. He mentioned that he called ""Bob"" on the way in from the 8 hour trip the night before and said the weather may too bad to do the Gulf Stream trip the next morning.\r He said they aren't calling for this weather, and he didn't get home in time to see the weather last night. I asked why he didn't let people know last night, rather than letting us hang for that long and taking our money, just to be returned. He said he didn't know if it would be bad today, but I am still trying to figure out how he knew it was bad offshore, if he never saw the weather and they weren't calling for it. He got an attitude when I asked that, and he responded with ""Are you trying to say that you know this stuff better than me?"" His cocky attitude and disrespect for the customer sealed the deal for me. We got the impression they just didn't want to go.\r The icing on the cake was when we got home (we did not go for the half-day) and called around to other charters, we found out that the big boats still went out, and that one in particular (Hurricane Fleet in Calabash, 15 min north of Little River) said she had called Little River and asked them to tell anyone that wasn't going that they were still taking the big boat out and had spots available. The captain, the man that took and refunded our payment, nor any other employee EVER mention another charter that close. It ruined our day, since we went to great lengths to find child care, and we didn't get to go, because of the charter that we chose. If we had seen these reviews we would have made a better decision. So I hope this review helps someone else....\r In short, the people seemed shady, not interested in our business, and we feel like we were being swindled. I would NOT use this Charter. We will be trying the Hurricane Fleet tomorrow. more

We booked the 1/2 day trip. We left the dock late and had to go back and get more passengers. I am happy those people got a break. They returned to the dock 1/2 hour early. We got to fish 20 to 25 minutes total broken up in 5 to 7 minute intervals. This was a 4 1/2 hour fishing trip as advertised on thier website. I contacted the office with my concerns and they claim that this was industry standard. They were not conerned with the 8 of us or our repeat business. This fishing charter was the worst charter experience we have ever had. From the unfriendly crew, to the lack of knowledge, it was definitely a waste of money. They acted like they didnt even want to be out there. Most captains try to do all they can to land you on some fish, explain what they are doing, where they are going, what they are trying. Not a word was spoken to us at all. And with 6 people aboard, and 4 poles, does that make sense? There are plenty of other charters to chose from, i would definitely go elsewhere. If you want to throw your money away, just go to the casino boat next door. Cons: bad captain, boat set up for scuba, not enough poles, no bait, need i say more more
