Best chicken tagine, mesmorising ambiance, cool staff, the best hookah 1/28/2009

Little Marrakesh is absolutely fab. We went for a friend's birthday dinner and we had a lovely time. The ambiance of the place is great, the candles and soft lights along with the music and decore. The food is absolutely delicious- you must try the bastila and the chicken tagine. Oh my God, we couldn't get enough. The hummus plate with all different kinds of salads was so good- and this is coming from somebody who doesn't even really like hummus. The wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and super cool. The kebobs were great. And we ended the night with jasmine-rose-flavored hookah. It was just a lovely night and the ambiance of the place really made it great. And while not dirt cheap, it's definitely affordable. This is the kind of place that people look for to experience the unique and memorable. I will definitely be back. more

Average, over-priced food, horrible service, loud & obnoxious high school/college kids 1/18/2009

Litlte Marakesh, Little Marakesh... hmmm... where can I start... as a matter of fact, I just went there last night for the first time, and am sorry to say that it will be my ONLY time there. The evening started out with me and my friend convincing the waitstaff that we actually DID have reservations, as we were only asked 200 times by nearly everyone there, as if they seemed to think we were lying to them. Nearly 20 minutes after we got there were we finally shown to our table. Over the course of the evening, our waitress, a borderline-competent (albeit benign), vacuous bimbo, who wore a plunging neckline as if to distract from her sheer stupidity and lack of attentiveness: 1.) forgot my silverware on two separate occasions, 2.) mistakenly gave us the doggie-bag of the people sitting at the table next to us, 3.) miscalculated the bill by nearly DOUBLING our total cost. more

Little Marakesh has become a family tradition 12/23/2008

I just love this place! My family and I have become regulars here over the years. It has been a tradition that we dine at little marakesh at least twice a year around the holidays. I have watched this unique eatery grow year after year. I have always admired the decore and entertainment. As for the food, it has been consistently excellent. The service, on the other, hand was not up to my expectations at times, but recently I noticed the place vibrating with new servers who performed to my expectations. our waitress in particular was excellent. more

nice place, nice people and excellent food 12/8/2008

My experience is very good here. They wash my hands with rose water and they give me many courses of Moroccan traditional food. Waiters are very friendly and they explain everything we eat. Our dancers who is also dance teacher gave excellent show with swords and veils. The shisha of watermellon and other fruit is very sweet and tasty after dinner. The decore is magnificent! Pros: Very nice staff and atmosphere and food is excellent Cons: No alcohol so you must buy from outside more

Not great but not horrible 12/5/2008

A small party of us ventured here not long ago and the waitress was very pleasant and did a wonderful job. Having come here once before and seen this ""goth"" chick who called herself a belly dancer which she was not she danced to non-arabic music, non arabic style nothing about it was belly dance. So it was very refreshing to see a real belly dancer in arabic style costume and with traditional music, she was very professional and friendly and thin I would recommended making reservations when she is dancing. Our food was so-so as in some courses were pretty good - chicken, salad, dessert but the couscous was very dry and the kabbob's were terrible - tasted like old ground beef. The restaraunt was decorated nicely and we were seated promptly however towards the end of our meal hords of teens came flooding in to smoke (not sure if that is allowed) and were loud and abnoxious. This place starts out nice but that changes into nothing more than a teenage hangout to sit and smoke. Pros: Service, Dancer (the traditional one anyway) ambience Cons: loud drunk teens, smoke, the gothic dancer that claims to be a belly dancer more

Simply excellent 11/14/2008

No restaurant gets 4 stars from me. In other words, I am your average pain in the behind customer that complains about anything and everthing. Long story short, little marrakech left me no room to complain. From the service to the atmosphere, and from the food to the entertainment this eatery surpassed my expectations. The only downside was the wait, it took around 20 minutes to be seated, but it was woth the wait. Ah! I can not end this little note without praising the dancer who was absolutely mesmerizing. Pros: food, entertainment and service Cons: too crowded more

Great place for a party 9/18/2008

I hardly write reviews, but this place is worthy of a few positive words. The food and service are excellent. Pros: byob more

Wow!! 8/14/2008

From the minute we walked in we were mesmorised. The food aco, odated each one of all the 10 of us. The decore and music transported us in time and place. The hoolahs were better than I had the md-east. The service was impicable. There just notjing to compare marrakech to in the area. I am a forever custmer and will be back. Thank you for a great night ;-] more

Excellent food and good service 8/8/2008

If you have a couple of hours and good company this might be a great place for you. My wife and I took my inlaws to little marakesh last night. We ordered their royal feast which is a series of moroccan traditional courses. The assorted salad was delicious served with warm pita. An appetizer garnished with powdered sugar and cinnamon, pasila I think the name is, is excellent. The kebobs were also my favorites while my wife fell in love with the chiken dish. THe service was a bit slow but good. I didn't mind the waitress taking her time as we took advantage of the time to converse, admire a beautiful ambience and digest a lot of food. Make sure you are hungry when you got to this place, they serve tons of food. Enjoy ;-] Pros: Food, parking and ambience Cons: crowded more

Moroccan to the bone 8/7/2008

This Marakech place just brought me back 20 years. I was in Morocco in the 70's and then the late 80's, in the southern part to be exact, doing god's work. Well, the buttom line the food is as authentic as could be. The service was second to none... the staff was knowledgable and as curteous as can be. I would highly recomend it to anyone. don't let your experience at other morocan restaurants turn you off of the cuisine. they don't even compare to the atmosphere and overall quality and authenticity of this place. I have been to every suposedly authentic morrocan restaurant around and they can't even hold a candle to this one. Pros: ambience, service, authenticity, and of course the food was incredible Cons: location is in a strip mall but you forget that when you enter more

Loads of fun, good food, good service 8/7/2008

I love this place--I'm here all the time. The owners are attentive, my server was extremely attractive, (the guy with the great bone structure and nice butt), and the food is amazing. try the berebere tajine!! the cheesecake oasis was incredible!! I never tried the feast because it is a little expensive and seems like a ton of food, but if you're hungry i'd recommend it. i'd also recommend the server, max ;-) what a traditional moroccan name there. still hot though. Pros: goodlooking staff, atmosphere, hookah Cons: lots of teenagers more

Unbelievably Horrible Service! 7/10/2008

We arrive ready to experience Moroccan food at it's best. Instead we found an unprepared restaurant with bad customer service. Food was overly and under seasoned, burnt or plain nasty! When we ordered items, we were later informed they were out, and when it came to dessert the waitress took it upon herself to assume we were to full! Seriously are you kidding me! Please do not take a chance at this place! Pros: Nice Setting Cons: Food and Service more

not so great food that you can't even pay for.... 7/10/2008

Me and my friends went there last night and we were impressed with the actual restaurant. My one friend tried to order the Sultans Feast however she was told more than one person can order it (for some unknown reason). We all ordered something different but me and my friend both got the casablanca kabob. I got my full order but apparently they ran out of red meat so my friend had to get a substitute, but ok thats ok i guess. more

2 thumbs up!! 1/31/2008

Over the winter break, my family and I took my brother who has just got back from Iraq to Little Marakesh. My brother was craving middle eastern food and atmosphere. We arrived around 6pm so we would not miss a show by a troupe of dancers named hipnosis. Our waitress explained to us that we would have a feast, and we went for it. The salad/appetizer was delicious, especially the hummus. Then, came a sweet dish with chicken and walnuts inside, decorated with a camel on top. My brother was not familiar with the dish as he said Moroccan cuisine is different from Iraqui food, in a good way. The chicken came in a clay dish with pita to dip in the sauce, it was to die for. I lost count after that, but the rest of the meal was delicious. I found out the following day when I had left overs. The owner of the restaurant helped serve us and gave us a brief history of his native country. He even had a brief conversation with my brother, in ARABIC. We met his wife too, she was working too. Around 7pm the show started and here I felt I was no longer in pennsylvania. The girls were fantastic dancers. I took some dance lessons back in the day, but I still remeber some moves. We were all concerned about my brother's reaction as we were there for him. more

Fantastic! 1/31/2008

My fiance and I visited this pleasant BYO to try the hookah and dessert two nights ago, and I must say it was the perfect conclusion to a romantic evening. After a night on the town, he and I were searching for something relaxing to top it all off. I?ve read about this place in a couple of articles and have received many promising references from friends. We brought a bottle of Cabernet and arrived shortly after 10 pm when they begin serving hookah. We were a little discouraged by the drab shopping center in which they?re located, yet once inside, we were certain we were no longer in Pennsylvania. The decor is strikingly authentic, yet warm with rich reds and golds. Very reminiscent of the Souk in Marrakech I visited while studying abroad, at once I was convinced we?d made a great choice for the evening. An obsequious young man led us to a large brass table, at which point he handed us a desert menu and recited the numerous fruity hookah flavors available that evening. The extent of the variety was intimidating, so he offered to bring us something special. Soon we were puffing sweet watermelon flavored ?sheesha? (as the young man referred to it) and sipping exotic fruit nectars, in flavors like pear and strawberry. For desert, I opted for a delightfully flaky plate of baklava, while Robbie indulged in a rich cheesecake smothered in chocolate and caramel, topped with raisins and walnuts. The atmosphere was relaxing on this low-key Tuesday night. There were a few other parties enjoying the hookah and finishing their dinners, and images of belly-dancers were displayed on the wall through a projection television. The staff was attentive and friendly, and we look forward to returning on a Friday or Saturday to try the ?famous feast?, and to experience the live entertainment of which we?ve heard good reviews. Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Service Cons: Location more
