best of the small town bars 2/18/2009

I visited the Little Bear for the first time on Valentine's night. The band was smokin' hot and the place was packed to the rafters with friendly people. It was a great contrast to the typical Seattle bar, where people are definitely more reserved. And yes, it's true - it's a great place to hook up, if that's what you're there for, but no one was obnoxious. I was there on a girls' night out, to listen to some great music and drink a few beers. The crowd was 50/50 guys/gals, every age from 21 to 60-something, and it was Standing Room Only. Yeah, the service is a bit cranky, and the menu is basic bar food, so don't go there for a dining experience. Go there to literally rub shoulders with a crowd of partiers who were very welcoming to this newcomer. Pros: great bands, friendly crowd, cold beer, park on the street or in nearby lots Cons: don't come here to eat, very crowded so don't expect people to respect your ""space"" more

Best Mountain Bar in the Front Range 11/19/2008

I've been going to this place since I was 3 years old back in 1958. I think it was the Red Fox Inn at the time. After Saturdays fishing at Evergreen Lake, I would belly up to the bar with my grandfather and an ice cold root beer, listening to him swap baseball and fish stories with his buddies. Pros: Very intimate live music venue Cons: Uncomfortable seating more

THIS IS REALLY JUST A PLACE TO GO TO SO YOU CAN SAY YOU'VE BEEN THERE. MAYBE IT WAS THE PLACE TO BE ""HISTORICALLY"" BUT THAT'S WHERE IT BELONGS-JUST A PART OF HISTORY. SERVICE IS UNBELEIVABLY TERRIBLE-FOOD IS EVEN WORSE. DRINKS ARE WATERED DOWN SO IF YOU GO, STICK WITH BEER. THE STAFF IS EVEN UNFRIENDLY. YOU CAN CHOOSE TO WAIT IN LINE FOR 30 MINUTES TO GET A BEER OR SIT AT A BOOTH AND NOT GET SERVED AT ALL. DON'T GO IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A GOOD TIME! Pros: GOOD MUSIC SOMETIMES Cons: SERVICE, FOOD, ATMOSPHERE, DRINKS more

Terrible service and food. 3/14/2008

We missed half the show we came to see because the bar had booked two back to back performances of artist David Wilcox. Waited 1 hour and 45 minutes to get food and couldn't hear a single song because there were no speakers near the line to get your order in. When we finally got our dinner we had 10 minutes to eat before being told by a rude staff member to ""get out"". Kitchen staff were equally unpleasant and unsanitary and gave us a burger that looked like it had been cooked for less than 15 seconds. Pros: Cool Atmosphere Cons: Everything else more

Great time. A bar everyone should experience for themselves. Can't wait to get back there. more
