One word, seven letters...A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. You'll see this theme in the other reviews as well, but truly our new favorite place. Not only was this a historic and exciting day (Obama's inauguration) but it was also my wife's birthday. I was able to call earlier today for reservations (much appreciated in Portland where you have to wait most places) and got us in for 7pm. We arrived a half hour early to enjoy cocktails at the bar which were tasty and STRONG...a Stoli martini for the Mrs. and a Don Draper for me (bourbon, muddled orange, brown sugar, bitters on the rocks). The restaurant was very busy for a Tuesday night and yet we were seated at a great windowside table. While tempting, we passed on the appetizers and started with the argula w/ bacon grilled pear and orange/fennel salads...so fresh, so good, so out of the ordinary. For our entrees I went with the hanger steak w/ onion rings and my wife had the grilled leg of lamb. Both received rave reviews in previous feedback and we concur. Absolutely delicious! While not sure how, we both left room for dessert. We usually pass or split a dessert but considering the occasion we went the whole 9 yards...chocolate slump cake and lemon/anise shortcake (w/ a bday candle!);both out of this world with just the right balance of flavors. I like to judge a place by the quality of their coffee and needless to say I was not disappointed with my after dinner cup(s) either...full bodied and fresh. Our server Jason was very friendly and informative...gave his opinion when asked and was very attentive...not too little not too much. The owners (same names as ours, no kidding!) David (who seated us and served us) and Jen (the executive chef) both came out to chat with us after dinner. I can't think of many places where the owners or chef care enough or take the time to visit with their customers. We were torn about reviewing this place as we don't want it to become too popular, but Lincoln more than deserves the accolades...5+ stars!
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
