It is tucked away in a little strip shopping center half way between Chapman & Hightower on Rufe Snow. If it were not for the ad we saw in the Star Telegram, we would have continued to overlook this treasure. It is very small, 15 to 20 tables and booths but is reminiscent of an old fashioned cafe where you get the best homemade burgers and fries, but instead it's tasty and affordable Mexican food.\r

Right off the bat, you are brought thin, crisp chips and the freshest, most flavorful hot sauce with just the right amount of heat. Tacos were crispy and flavorful. Cheese and onion, and beef enchiladas had a wonderful flavor and consistency but were not smothered with the awful thick and heavy cheese sauce that a lot of restaurants insist on using. This was light and flavorful cheese. The tamales, which I usually don't even like because they are mostly masa and little meat and so dry, were perfect and stuffed with the most flavorful, moist meat imaginable. The refried beans had a good flavor and consistency and each grain of rice was light and tasty. We were about to waddle out when the friendly and helpful proprietor suggested a sopapilla for only 60 cents and my desert loving husband could not resist. It did not disappoint. Light and hot and fluffy with cinnamon and sugar crust and hot honey dripping out the corners. Two dinners, drinks dessert and tip...20 bucks...Now that's Good Eats at the right price.
