I purchased 90% of my lighting needs on a large house I was building because my father had been using them for 20 years and told me they were honest. \r My experience: The service poor. I spent at least 20 hours working with these people and I got to know them. I also spent roughly $50K+++ in total. I was usually treated well but wasted so much time (waiting nearly an hour at one time other times up to 20 minutes other times) by ""Richard"" and the prices were poor. BTW Richard, you should go back to South Africa if you haven't already since all you do is complain about the US! They boasted that they were giving me great prices but not true.\r \r They do know lightbulbs, I will give them that but they also know how to inflate prices and at the same time making you think they are doing you a great favor. Many ""errors"" including charging me more for a floor lamp or rather a bait and switch with a lesser quality cheaper lamp than I ordered. I could go on.... Oh just one more.... When an attractive woman came in all the guys working there stopped what they were doing and helped her and later when she left they made lets say in a nice way, unprofessional remarks about her. Come on, grow up, lads! \r Don't take my word on this. Campare prices and decide for yourself. Since most of the things they order anyway, it is cheaper, faster and less of a hassle to do it online yourself. more

My wife and I are re-doing our kitchen and wanted an accent light for over our sink. We found the perfect hanging light in LBU's expansive showroom and they ordered it for us. When we came in to pick it up, there was a problem with what they ordered. However, to make things right, they gave us a 40% discount off the product's price and dropped the shipping charges. They also spent over half an hour fixing the issue while we waited. They truly put the customer first. The lights at LBU can be rather expensive, and we were a bit put off by the confusion over our order, but they won us over with their excellent customer care and we will definitely go back to them for future lighting needs. more

There is no doubt this place has a great selection of fixtures and bulbs. But their service leaves a lot to be desired. I found a fixture on line, but wanted to see it before I bought and buy it locally. The manufacturer said dealers could get a sample of the glass at no charge. I asked LBU to get that for me. They said they would, but did not follow through. It took two visits to the store and four phone calls (and two months!) to make it happen. When I picked up the sample, do you think they even tried to get me to buy it from them? Nope. So I bought it on line and saved 10%. more
