I lead a very active life?I travel a lot, used to think nothing of running 6 miles, when I unfortunately herniated a lower disk doing yoga? For once in my life, I wasn?t able to work through the pain? I couldn?t do any of the things I was used to doing! For nearly two years, I tried to avoid moving my hips much, hoping that my back would stabilize. It hurt when I woke up and tried to get out of bed, it hurt when I tried to stand on one leg to put on a shoe, or a pair of pants, it hurt when I walked, and I certainly wasn?t able to exercise in any way? I even transitioned my career because of the injury. (I never knew that back pain could be so terrible!) After seeing another (not very good) chiropractor, and a physical therapist, I saw an Osteopath, who recommended Celebrex. When I read the list of side-effects, (heart attacks and strokes), I chickened-out and decided to make sure I?d exhausted all possibilities before taking it? Luckily, I found Dr. Lila. She immediately insisted upon adjusting my spine, rather than keeping it immobile. While I was nervous, because of the pain, at that point, I was willing to try anything. After only a few adjustments with Lila, I felt better. Over the next month of adjustments, the pain grew less intense, and I was able to return to simple exercise. After a few more months, I was feeling MUCH better. A year later, I?m back to rigorous exercise, and it?s rare that I experience lower back pain at all. It all thanks to Dr. Lila, that I finally have my life back! I?m SO thankful to her for helping me return to my normal state of health.
Pros: Can't live without her.
Cons: Wish she was closer to my home, near Union Square.
