These guys are fantastic. I have taken my VW to them over the course of the past 2 years and they have been nothing but honest, have done quality work and are reasonably priced. As someone mentioned below, it is hard to find a mechanic that does try to take advantage of the fact you are a woman and know nothing about car engines. As the owner of numerous VW vehicles, I was absolutely thrilled to discover Lewis Motorwerks, a independent shop which is operated honestly and efficiently by a family of wonderful guys who really KNOW these vehicles. Phil runs the front office and does a lot of the small repairs himself, while Nick concentrates on the heavy jobs back in the service area. I've been going to Nick and Phil Lewis for over seven years. I've tried others and always come back. They are honest and transparent. They find the problem and take care of it without doing more than necessary. They understand the need for responsible repair jobs but also the reality of a limited budget, and use good after-market or used parts when appropriate to save you money. And you won't be paying for any mistakes. They're a joy to deal with - friendly and down to earth. Just good people.
