Don't let the fact that it shares a parking lot with the Best Western fool you. This charming restaurant offers a classic steakhouse atmosphere and a solid meal. The meat was prepared very simply - very little seasoning - but it was cooked to perfection just the way we asked for it. Drinks were reasonably priced. Service was a little slow, but they were very attentive with our water glasses. And they have great, classic '50s music from Frank, Satchmo, et al, playing in the background, just loud enough to hear but not so loud that it drowns out your conversation. A little overpriced for what it is, but it was still a lovely dinner. more

Hidden away a few blocks from bustling Stateline, this charming, low key place serves steaks and good seafood. the grilled halibut for $26.95 was worth it. Restaurant is dark but cozy, nicely surrounded by trees. It's in the old motel neighborhood of south shore, but part of a nicer Best Western. more

The butterflied shrimp is the best tasting shrimp I have had in my entire life, and I have had a lot of shrimp. I ate there twice last week while on vacation; and those were the top two meals I have had in a long time. Whether you stay in Tahoe consistently or are just visiting for the first time, this place is a must. I am happy someone told me about it, and I am sure you will be too. Lew Mar Nel's is one of the best restaurant I have ever been to. I was so pleasantly surprised, I had read that they had the best steaks in town, however, I do not eat steak. My husband and I both ordered the swordfish, absolutely delicious, melted in my mouth - every bite wonderful. Pros: fish and ambience more

My husband and I were introduced to this restauraunt when we had the good fortune to stay at the adjacent Best Western Station House Inn hotel. They own both places . When you stay at the hotel...you get a complementary full breakfast included in the rates...(COOKED TO ORDER) Well...we decided to eat dinner there and WOW!!! The food was unbelieveable and the service was extraordinary!! Steaks and seafood are especially good as are the pancakes and waffles. We made this our annual family summer vacation for the fourth of July and this is our 3rd year. We are so looking forward to this year! BTW...JULY 4th fireworks over the lake are AWESOME!!! The host was great and so was the busboy however I encountered the worst waiter in my life at this restaurant. The place had maybe four table of people, mostly tables of 2. The waiter would not explain the menu items. I ordered a $26 steak that was flavorless. We were dining with friends and asked to split the check the waiter got an attitude with us came over and threw a pad of paper and a pen on the table and told us to figure it out ourselves. If you are traveling and need to expense your meals don't expect to split a check at this place. If you want a poorly prepared, tasteless steak served by a man with a chip on his shoulder I suggest eating here. Pros: Cheese fondue Cons: BAD Service more
