I've been a Les Schwab customer for years and several cars. I went to this one because I just moved to the area and needed 4 new tires. I only had my new tires on for about 3 months when one of them shredded itself driving back on I-5 from Thanksgiving dinner with my 3 babies in the back snoozing. AAA came out, put on my spare.
I went back to this Les Schwab (on Steilacoom blvd in Lakewood, where I bought the 4 new tires), and they told me that it wasn't their tire's fault, it was my fault for not having it properly inflated. This didn't make sense to me. I asked if the other tires were inflated well enough or if they were going to have problems. They said everything was fine with the other 3. They didn't find any nails, or holes, or anything wrong in the bum tire besides that the tire just shredded itself. I asked to see it, they said no.
They told me that they needed to sell me a new tire. I was kinda pissed because I had just bought all four new tires, and this is highly unusual for my van to have any kind of un-evenness with tire wear.
I drive it the same, take it in to my full-service mechanics regularly for oil changes, tune ups, etc and they do a check on everything for me because I don't like surprises and I need my car! An ounce of prevention they say.
So I bought the new tire, but I felt that I was shafted out of my warranty and that they just railroaded me into a new tire when it was pretty clear that this new tire was defective and their fault. They knew that they had me over a barrel though, because I'm no tire expert and it's their word against mine. I wouldn't go here again, because I felt so violated, cheated and lied to.
