New Dinner Special: Bacteria-Infused Pho!! 1/21/2011

Would you eat at a restaurant if you knew that the employees who handled your food went to the bathroom and didn't follow proper hygiene codes? I wouldn't, and I won't be going to Le's anymore. I've been there twice, most recently the night of January 20th with my girlfriend. I have no complaints about the food itself, nor the value--the special bowl with beef is delicious, as are the spring rolls. After the meal, I went to the bathroom in order to relieve myself. It happened that two workers (I couldn't tell if they were cooks or waiters) came into the bathroom soon after I entered. As an aside, the reason I was able to identify them was because of the small crack in the stall between the door and the divider. Also, the stall was connected to the ceiling rather than the floor, so I could see their feet. Alright, I know it might be creepy to spy on people from a toilet stall, but aren't you glad I did??? OK, back to the review I knew they were employees because they wore white shirts, black slacks, and most obvious, were wearing plain black sneakers, the kind without logos that you see minimum wage employees wear at restaurants, grocery stores, and other service-oriented businesses. Anyways, one of the guys went up to the urinal, quickly took a piss, and left without washing his hands. The other guy had come into the bathroom simply to wash his face--nothing against him, it's his buddy that concerns me. To exacerbate the grossness of this situation, as I was washing up by the sink, a waiter walked into the bathroom and used the urinal. This wouldn't concern me, but for the fact he was still wearing his apron. Aren't you supposed to take those things off before you start spouting liquid waste out of your you-know-what? I left Le's disgusted, though I didn't inform the manager--seldom does registering a complaint with the management actually work. Rather, I will leave it to my fellow Yelpers to inflict my wrath, because no one wants to eat at an establishment that features urine-flavored food. Happy eating, and stay away. more

lousy service; so-so food 9/8/2005

if you want a pleasant evening, don't come to this place; soup was lukewarm, waiter had to be reminded to give us our utensils; food was average - go somewhere! more

Overrated Vietnamese Food 3/6/2005

This restaurant is overrated. The pho is terrible and the other dishes are not very good either. It is very standard, but I guess you can't get much else in Cambridge. The prices are very expensive for Vietnamese. If you want pho, I would definitely recommend going outside of Cambridge. There are pockets of Boston that have wonderful small Vietnamese restaurants that are much more affordable. more

key is location 8/21/2003

One in China town is owesome. Flavorfull, cheaper, quick service but not romantic. One in Harvard Sq. is too bad. So rude waiters. He didn't say even one word since I got a table. Did I do something wrong? Plus food isn't good. Just OK but doesn't worth to pay that price. Soup was lukewarm, some potatoes in soup wasn't done well. I never go back Harvard sq, but I love to repeat Chaina town. more

Awesome find. 5/15/2003

This is a great restaurant. Good service and delicious food. I do have to admit that the parking situation is not wonderful...trying to find a spot along the street can be tough at certain times in this area. But, absolutely worth the hassel. Pros: Great food, Inexpensive, Quick seating/service Cons: Parking more

Could be better 3/27/2003

This Pho Pasteur can't hold a candle to the Pho Pasteur in Chinatown. The latter has inexpensive, very tasty food served quickly. The Pho in Harvard Square is more expensive and has a less interesting menu. If you really want good soup, go to Pho Pasteur at 682 Washington Street in Boston's Chinatown. Pros: Location Cons: Uninteresting food, Not inexpensive more

Good American fare 2/15/2003

Great place to hang out, and great family place, as well. Fun, pleasant atmosphere with good, American fare. Pros: big, dependable food, convenient location Cons: possibly, parking, not much ambience, not too inventive more

Oodles of good noodles 12/19/2002

The pho in this restaurant is great. The vietnamese spring roll is only acceptible (the authentic ones are significantly larger). We also tried the fried noodles and rice dishes, both are very well done. Good place to go for a quick lunch. Pros: Good food, Convenient location, Fast kitchen Cons: Mediocre service, Noisy, Facilities run down more

Rude Waiters 12/7/2002

The food tastes like it's left over from ages ago. Nothing is fresh. But that's hardly the problem anymore when the rude waiters come along. If you decide that they don't deserve 15% tips, they will yell at your and embarass you in front of all other customers. Never go there. Cons: Rude waiters, Bad food more

A little below average 11/7/2002

Food there is decent but not really for people who are vietnamese decend or had real vietnamese food before. Very westernized style of cooking. Price is a little high but expected for the location that it is in. Staff is average, it depends on the day you eat there. Pros: cheap for that area, for less adventurous, nice decor Cons: not too authentic, mediocre service, expensive overall more

Good on my wallet 10/9/2002

Pho Pasteur was recommended to me by a friend and I went there with another friend. It was so good! We were seated immediately and service was great. First, I wasn't sure if I should get a soup or stir fry. I asked the waiter but he was no help. So I finally ordered one of the smaller sizes of soups. In about five minutes the food arrived. I was shocked. The soup was very tasty and the ""small"" soup was larger than I expected. And, I paid like $6 for a meal I barely finished. Definitly worth the trip. I'm going again with another friend. Pros: Speed, Taste Cons: No Recommendations, Rushed Waiters more

Good Pho in Cambridge 9/16/2002

If you're around Harvard Square and looking for affordable Vietnamese food, then Pho Pasteur is a good choice. If you're near Chinatown/Theatre District, there are cheaper and better pho restaurants around. The service is very fast, but impersonal. Which is fine with me, at least they come by consistently to refill my water. Pros: afforable menu, convient location, easy to get seats Cons: service, weak bar more

good food cheap......not great service 8/29/2002

This restaurant serves excellent food for really cheap. The service is not good. The waitstaff are in such a rush , you dont get eye contact, and the food is thrown in front of you, but the quality of the FOOD and the cheap prices keep me coming back. Pros: great food, very cheap, large portions Cons: bad service more

Pho Good 8/25/2002

Pho is fast, cheap, and always delicious. Try the one in Allston for authentic atmosphere, and the one in the Theatre District for upscale Vietnamese goodness. (Caveat: the Theatre District locale has pricier entrees on the menu in addition to the traditional dishes.) Pros: Cheap, quick, healthy Cons: Inattentive service more
