I went to Lens Lab Express on Steinway Street for a pair of distance glasses and eye exam. I told the optomotrist I had pior surgery in my eye but she thought contact lenses could be good for me and wanted me to try a trial pair to see if I could wear them, despite prior surgerys in my eye. Distance glasses also prescribed. The sales girl told me I couldn't get a trial pair of contacts unless I buy a 6 month supply of contacts. I told her no because I didn't know if I could wear contacts. She assured me the six month supply could be returned if I couldn't wear them. I was very concerned about this because I didn't want to be stuck with a 6 month supply if I couldn't wear contacts. No where in the store was there a no refund sign. So I bought them. I paid for the purchase with my credit card. When i returned for the glasses and contact trial pair they were ready. I couldn't see out of the glasses. The glasses were checked and the optomotrist found they were cut on a broken machine. The machine operator told the Optometrist that the machine had been broken and they cut the glasses on the broken machine anyway. The glasses were unwearable because of a prism effect. They also had the prescription wrong! I couldn't wear the contacts after all and was then told they have a no refund policy. I was told I would be given a store credit . So now I was forced to spend 350.00 more when I had been guaranteed by the sales girl that "the contact lenses can be returned if you can't wear them." The sales people make commissions on the sales at Lens Lab Express. So on store credit I picked out frames for two more pairs of glasses. Buy one get one pair free was the offer. When I went to pick up my glasses and asked for an itemized receipt I saw I was overcharged for the eyeglass frames. I had checked the retail price of the frames at the designers official site online. That is how I know I was over charged. This is how they give store credit. I was pushed into buying a 6 month supply of contacts just to get a trial pair to see if I cold wear contacts with a guarantee from the sales woman that they could be returned "if I couldn't wear them," which turned out to be a blatant lie! So glad I have witnesses. Then they ripped me off in giving me store credit by overcharging me for eyeglass frames so they wouldn't have to give me the full credit. This isn't over yet. This may end up in court. Run away from Lens Lab Express. They are a rip off!!!
