Thai iced tea was good. Not overly sweet like most places. Portion is huge, which is also good. Noodles were a bit bland, but the veggie was cooked right. more

I LOVE Leng Thai. Best bet is to go there, because they are very cutely decorated (especially outside if it is nice weather), they bring a nice free crispy appetizer, and the staff never rushes your fantastic meal. I recommend the Panang salmon which is great, and you can complement it with a sweet white wine for not too expensive. I have also tried take-out with good success for many of their dishes. Again, I love Leng Thai more

Wonderful local Thai place! 6/21/2010

I ordered a Pad Thai with shrimp here and it was great. For sure best in Astoria I've had. Added bonus: the dish was huge and with leftovers I had a big meal the next day. The atmosphere was pleasant and a Thai woman named Poo was very welcoming. Recommended! more

One of the best Thai restaurants in Astoria 3/25/2010

I usually don't review restaurants, since many places I have been too have plenty of reviews already, but I was shocked to see this local favorite of mine, my friends and family had only two reviews in stark contrast to my opinion of the place. \r \r \r I hope the reviewers are real and not competitors trying to talk sh-t about another restaurant - either way, I think they are a bit extreme. I can't say have ever had a bad experience at this place. I've been there a dozen times since its opening and while there may be a bit of a language barrier or cultural difference with the waiters, it was never deemed as ""rude,"" perhaps just a bit more attentive than people are comfortable with.\r \r The portions are huge and I always have to bring the rest home. Some of my favorites are the classic Pad See Ew, Lard Nar, and any of the crispy boneless duck dishes with chili sauce. The only problem I may have is that the menu is too large and it is hard to decide what to get. There are your standard Thai dishes and also many that go above and beyond what many people are familiar with.\r \r I have been to my share of Thai restaurants in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn and I can honestly say, this is one of the best I've been to. If you are in the area, it's a safe bet for a tasty, affordable meal. Pros: Atmosphere, large portions, low prices, outdoor garden more

Terrible Service. 12/13/2009

I have eaten here three times. The food was average for Astoria Thai, and the environment was somewhat peaceful at first, other than extremely noisy clientele. On the third visit, I brought a guest. We decided to split a main course, and one appetizer. Waiter #1 asked me to ""buy a drink or something, because it's ten dollar minimum per person."" I have NEVER been to a restaurant where there was a minimum spending amount on the food. The bill totaled $25 before tip, so we were already over the ""minimum"" as is. This disgruntled me at first, then I let it go. For the entire meal, the entire wait staff watched us like security guards in prison. It was very uncomfortable, and I felt like they were waiting for us to steal something. They never made eye contact, nor were human at any point in time. At the end of the meal, I filled out the tab, and before I was finished signing the check, waiter #3 ripped the bill out of my hand and rudely said ""THANK YOU!"" They were not busy, there were only three couples in the entire place. No need to rush us out, or rip the tab out of my hands as I was writing on it. RUDE RUDE RUDE. NEVER going back again. There's a better place right across the street, where they don't snub you or belittle your presence. Pros: interesting decor Cons: snotty waitstaff more
