I have eaten here three times. The food was average for Astoria Thai, and the environment was somewhat peaceful at first, other than extremely noisy clientele.
On the third visit, I brought a guest. We decided to split a main course, and one appetizer. Waiter #1 asked me to ""buy a drink or something, because it's ten dollar minimum per person."" I have NEVER been to a restaurant where there was a minimum spending amount on the food. The bill totaled $25 before tip, so we were already over the ""minimum"" as is.
This disgruntled me at first, then I let it go. For the entire meal, the entire wait staff watched us like security guards in prison. It was very uncomfortable, and I felt like they were waiting for us to steal something. They never made eye contact, nor were human at any point in time. At the end of the meal, I filled out the tab, and before I was finished signing the check, waiter #3 ripped the bill out of my hand and rudely said ""THANK YOU!""
They were not busy, there were only three couples in the entire place. No need to rush us out, or rip the tab out of my hands as I was writing on it.
RUDE RUDE RUDE. NEVER going back again. There's a better place right across the street, where they don't snub you or belittle your presence.
Pros: interesting decor
Cons: snotty waitstaff
