Leipold's is not a large shop, but plan to spend some time there because you will be absolutely fascinated by their array of unique gifts, items and treasures. But its not just their items. The owners are as interesting as the Shop and a joy to visit with....whether its about Excelsior history, their antiques, their book collections (new and old), their store cat, or their fun and very unique items. Their extensive, eclectic mix of antique, new, ethnic and specialty items will catch any person's interest. You will look forward to every visit because there is always something you've never seen before, something you'll want to ask about and something of interest for everyone (not to mention something you'll take home!). Their items are definitely not run-of-the-mill, mass-produced products you're likely to find in other stores or shops because the owners personally travel and hand select their mechandise, often from smaller and even local/regional artisans as well as a variety of international items (Scandinavia, Germany, etc). There's also a good chance they will have any hard-to-find glass/replacement parts for antique lights and lamps, if you're looking for them. Whether or not you have a specific purchase in mind when you walk into the quaint, 'non-pedestrian' shop, you'll leave with an experience and wares that will definitely make you want to come back. The Leipold's store and proprietors are local gems !
