I have a Brother embroidery machine that I bought in February. It has been serviced under warranty before with no problems, so I did not question when the same thing happened again. I was quoted 1 week for repair time and confirmed the machine was under warranty with no personal charges. After 2 WEEKS with no response on the status I called. They had not started on the machine yet. I then rcvd a call it was ready for PICK UP. I was not told anything other than it was ready. When I arrived to pick it up I was told I owed $98!!! This was the FIRST I had learned of a charge. I was under the impression it was under warranty and specifically stated that it was when I dropped off the machine. I was NEVER told there may be a charge. I was told that the problem was not covered by the warranty and they had cleaned and serviced the machine. However, I was never called to authorize the charges or told that there would be charges when I picked it up. It's like taking your car for an oil change and they change your air filter without asking and then charge you. I was told the owner was out of town and would be back in a couple days and would need to speak with her. One week later...I spoke to Jeanette and she was UNAPOLOGETIC - remember the customer is NEVER RIGHT - this was her attitude. In reponse to the fact her employee had not mentioned the possibility of a charge, she stated there was nothing she could do about that now. I told her I would pay her as much as I could when I could (we are in a recession, right?!) and I was told that I had to pay half now or they would get a lawyer and take me to court if it was not paid in a timely manner. This was a COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED charge. We are having a baby in a week and have other expenses that take precedence over having an embroidery machine fixed, had I known I would be charged. PLEASE BEWARE BEFORE TRUSTING THIS STORE. I am not malicious, just want others to know what they are getting into before being taken advantage of like I was.
