It's true: the burgers are enormous (13oz), not very good (we had the sirloin), and the wait is abysmal (after you wait to sit down, you STILL wait for at least 1.5 hours for the ...

Le Tub burgers 6/17/2007

We heard that Le Tub was rated the #1 burger in the Nation- Coming from NY we have had lots of good burgers before and couldnt wait to try Le Tub- We now live in S Florida and finally tried out Le Tub last night. The staff was VERY rude!! They rudely told me that you have to seat yourself. When I asked for ice water the waitress did not speak, she just pointed to the cooler- you had to get your own water from a dirty cooler. I have NEVER seen that before. She told me the wait for a burger was 1 hr- We had our 2 kids (age 4 & 7) with us but decided we were there so we would wait. The kids were entertained by the cool atmosphere. Its like you are in a tree house- You can also sit outisde & look at the intracoastal. The burger came in 35 min (not 1 hr) and was nothing to brag about- it was large (13oz) but had a burnt taste b/c it is Charbroiled. They do not have any toppings avail except cheese- I would have liked sauteed onions or mushrooms. It does not come with fries- ( steak fries were really good! ). I would not return- the staff was not nice at all and the burger was just OK. The atmosphere was interesting but it was a little dirty feeling- We will not be returning! more

Take it from a long time customer... 4/30/2007

Le Tub used to be my favorite place to hang out in the world. I first found this place 15 years ago and have been a loyal customer ever since. The recent publicity by Oprah and GQ has turned the place into an overpriced hangout of boring people. I guess all good things do come to an end. By the way, I've never tried their burgers - the catch of the day is always amazing! :) Pros: great views, very original atmosphere Cons: prices have gone up like crazy more

Love is found in stranger places... 2/27/2007

Le Tub - if only you knew. This is a place that only locals know - if you are a tourist - forget it. No, the service is not great, maybe the food barely makes it - but, what it does have is Location, location, location. If you have any idea of the area, you would know. My husband and I used to run there just to get a bench swing and a Corona - forget about a table - look over the water - for my house was just beyond. - and flies?, please - move to South America. However, yes, with a little better care, maybe the place could be better, but it was love at first sight for me - you just have to know where your going. more

Customer service needs work. 2/19/2007

February 19, 2007. Finally, I got to see what the big fuss was about....Oprah...America's #1 burger.... Now where do I start... Once we arrived, we were greated in the parking lot by the ""attendant"" who informed us that it will be just about an hour wait to get the food. Once we got inside, we got to experience the ""not so welcoming staff"" where we pretty much sat ourselves. Soon there after, we placed our orders...then came the flies...We both ordered cheeseburgers, two sodas, and a side of mozzarella sticks.. After just about an hour, the food arrived....hmmmm...To pretty much sum it all up, NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL. I don't see what's the big deal over there burgers...to be frank... It was one of those ""been there, done that"" things. Will not revisit....At the end of the day...$41.50...You can now be your own judge.. Cons: Parking, length of wait time. more

Expected Nasty Service and Decent Food.. Got.... 12/30/2006

We first heard about Le Tub from the Oprah article. We live in Miami and have been wanting to try it out for months. We have read a lot of negative reviews about the bad attitude of staff and long wait times etc. We finally had a chance to go on Thursday, December 28, 2006. We arrived at 11:30 to find that they didn't open until 12. We were told to go ahead and pick a table and they would let us know as soon as they were ready for us to order. We were the first people there and picked a table right on the water and got to relax and watch the boats go by. Around 11:45 the waitress took our order. We ordered two cheeseburgers, a basket of fries, a pina colada, a rum runner and a bottle of water. The cheeseburgers were $12.00 each with no fries included. We asked for them with no onions and were told they are served with everything on the side which was fine. The burgers came with lettuce, tomato and onion on the side. The fries were actually really good. We had a small basket which was enough for both of us. The pina colada and the rum runner were brought out almost immediately and the food arrived about 15 minutes after we ordered, right around 12, which is when they actually opened. I thought the burgers were good, Id be more likely to go back for the environment rather than just the burgers. By the time our food arrived the place filled up very fast. At that point they started telling people it would be a 45 minute wait for burgers. They don't take credit cards and that fact is strongly advertised. I liked the place. It was different and unique. While I didnt find the staff to be overly friendly, they were polite and efficient and I have no complaints at all. I thought it was a relaxing meal and it was nice to sit back and watch the boats go past. The weather was perfect, low 70s and no rain. Also, we were glad we brought our smaller car and not our pickup truck which would have made it hard to get out of the small parking lot. Pros: Unique Experience, Nice Waterfront Scenery, Tasty Food and Decent Service Cons: Kind of expensive for a burger, mostly outdoors disadvantage if weather is wet or too hot more

Maybe we got lucky... 11/13/2006

I had visited the CitySearch website before going to Le Tub, reading all the negative items since Oprah and GC sang their praises so was not going to stop by... but we were driving down the coast, so I said what the heck. Was a Wed or Thurs evening in October so probably not the busy season. I can see how people got angry over the parking, there is very lil, and I am sure the neighboring businesses don't like Le Tub patrons taking up their spots. Being a midweek day, we got a table immediately. Great view of the water (was low tide so the smell came with it *grins*). My girl and I order cheeseburgers, I had the chili, and we got a basket of fries between us. Burgers were ok, more novelty than anything being able to tell everyone you went to one of the places you must have a burger before you die. Personally, they are just huge burgers. *shrugs*. Chili was meh at best and not ""the best"" or ""world famous"" like was mentioned. Fries were the best part of the meal. I would definitely not go back again, but it was an experience so I took it as that. The decor and tables were Beach Bum meets Biker Bar. I am a very easy-going guy, so I was able to take in the experience and enjoy it, but if you like a wider selection of food, a clean dining environment, and overall a comfortable place to eat, this is not the place for you. Like a previous poster said.. It's a bar that serves food. Gotta take it for what it is. Pros: Great view at sunset, decent food to go with a few beers Cons: Not for the finicky eater or finicky diner. more

good food...if you don't mind the occassional ro@ch 11/1/2006

My mother had dinner here about 1 month ago. When she got home, all she could tell me was that there were ro@ches everywhere!! Underneath the wooden deck where you wait to be seated, ro@ches could be seen crawling around. At the dinner table, she says everyone had their feet up because they were afraid of a ro@ch crawling up their leg!!! Pros: not your usual ambience...tubs as decor Cons: dirty more

Pure nasty, this place has gone way down. 8/24/2006

Le Tub used to be my favorite place, so I made the mistake of taking someone there a few nights ago. Everything was fine until a r0ach ran up on the table. She was freaked out but we moved tables and everything settled down. It's outside so, no big deal, right? Nope. We get another, different r0ach scurrying around on the next table. As we left the place, the couple sitting at our first table was noticing their guest, and an entire birthday party at the front was standing up and screaming; apparently they had r0ach problems as well. This place has become absolutely disgusting, and yeah, they let me pay the tab. Violent service, a laidback atmosphere and good food used to make this place offbeat great, but now it's just a sad joke overrun with vermin. The city should yank their permits. more

Food was INEDIBLE!!! 7/10/2006

I have been going to Le Tub since the early 90's. The place, food, and drinks were awesome. Well, went back today after not going for about a year and everything was so horrible that we couldn't even eat it. Ordered chili, greek salad and a burger. Almost threw up from the chili-greek salad was nothing like it used to be (they used to have huge chunks of feta with beautiful beefstake tomato and onion) and the burger was INEDIBLE!!! Started to lose my appetite when I saw the boxes of meat being brought in for the burgers. This was definitely not sirloin-eww. They must be having a good laugh at anyone who thinks that they taste good. The meat was so tough-it was hard to cut with a knife. What a waste of $31!!! I will not go back and had to laugh when some tourist said to the waitress, ""that sure was a good burger!"". I used to love this place-but now they've covered the wood carved table tops-couldn't even find my initials any more. I'm sad to have lost one of my favorite spots-I have to admit IT STINKS!!! more

It's a BAR that serves food folks! 5/23/2006

I recently ate at LeTub, during off hours as recommended....about 1:30pm on a Friday afternoon. It was not crowded and we did not wait for a table. I would say that about 75% of the tables were filled. Our young waiter happened to be very hospitable. He brought our menus-took our drink order, and returned to take our burger order. When we asked how to order the famous LeTub burger-he didn't scoff...he just guided us. No attitude. He checked on us for another round before our burgers came and then again after he served our meal. The margaritas are outstanding, the atmosphere is tacky but charming and the burgers were done perfectly. Personally...I'm more of a thin greasy burger fan...but these big 'ol patties didn't disappoint. Pros: margaritas, atmosphere, waterfront more

So you were on Oprah, Deal with it! 5/21/2006

Le Tubs ego has swollen out of portion. Granted their burgers are good, but who can deal with the snobby waitresses and the three-hour wait for them? Le Tub's staff seems to think they can get away with treating their customers like absolute crap just because of there fame and notoriety. Are they not in the service industry? Its not the customers fault that, due to poor management, Le Tub has not been able to deal with the demand for its burgers. Why take it out on us! I say to everyone who works at LE Tub, get over yourself! To anyone who is planning to go there, stay away. They dont want you there. Take your business elsewhere. I recommend Nicks; its right on the beach and the 8 oz. Burgers are juicier and two dollars less. more

Best Burgers - Don't Complain! 4/30/2006

I'm a Hollywood local and I've enjoyed every experience to Le Tub no matter the food wait. The burgers take a while because every tourist who watches Oprah has to try them so the wait has increased significantly. Anyone who wants to try the best has to have some common sense and understand that perfection takes time. Its the best place in South Florida to have a beer on the water and watch the sun set on a warm Florida evening. Don't come dressed up - the atmosphere is extremely casual. And if you're not into red meat, the seafood salad sandwich is the best there is, anywhere. more

We Loved It 3/27/2006

Le Tub was just what we expected. There was 6 of us and we had great waitress service and were told 1 1/2 hours for our burgers. Have some salsa and chips.. We got our burges in 1 hour. You have to remember when going there that is takes 45 minutes to cook these burgers which are big and the grill only holds 15 burgers so be prepared. If you are looking for good food and a relaxing time this is the place, and if you bring kids bring them something to keep busy with and people with medical problems make sure you have a snack for them on had. I always say be prepared. It is an experience on I will repeat. Pros: good food, great atmosphere, good people more

C'mon guys. It is a hamburger! 3/23/2006

Bascially they serve homeade style hamburgers. However, I am only willing to endure a certain amount of abuse for something I can do better at home. I am not willing to: 1.Wait 1.5 hours. 2. Deal with arrogant service. 3. Hassle with parking. 4. Be treated like cattle. I walked out, parked our car across the street.( $5. all day.) Then we walked for 5 minutes to Sugar Reef restaurant on the Hollywood boardwalk. I sat down right away at a lovely table with a stunning ocean view and, courteous wait staff. I then ordered a rare, delicious fresh tuna sandwich with home fries and a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. For desert I had a piece of key lime pie with a strong espresso. I probably was sipping my last taste of espresso while people were still waiting for their fat burger on a paper plate. Pros: nice burgers Cons: no service, ridiculous wait more

Not #1 at all 3/16/2006

Well, we went there because it's supposed to be the best. The prices are outrageous. The waiter made us feel like she didn't have time for us. We were taking to long to order so she just walked away. All of our food came out at different times, I have never seen that happen. Overall it was a fast food burger at a fine dining price. I will not reccommend this place to anyone. more

Take it or leave it..... 3/14/2006

I was driving along in my 1990 Geo Metro when I spotted a bunch of tubs on the side of the road. I parked in the HUGE parking lot and entered the walkway. I asked what was good and she said everything is good here. So, I waited 11 minutes for the server to return. I ordered a Diet Coke, chili, and a cheeseburger. So, I watched all the smoke coming out of the shack they call a building. (Don't know how it survives hurricanes) I received my chili in the hospital cup. I asked for a take-home box. The server looked at me in an inquisitive way and told me to shut my trap. I told her to get my check because this would be my last time. So, I wrapped my burger in a napkin. So, in conclusion, great food, awful personalities. more

Best Burger In America 9/14/2005

Le Tub is without a doubt the most unique and enjoyable place to enjoy the absolute best burger you have ever had. It was voted number one by GQ magazine. Don't dress up, come in shorts or a bathing suite, get a table on the water, order the greatest burger ever or their seafood salad sandwhich and Emerald couldn't make gumbo as good as their's! You don't want to miss it!!!! Pros: Best Burger Ever, Great Scenery, Very Unique more

Avoid Le Tub At all Costs 7/30/2005

Absoultely the worst service ever. Sat in the pouring rain and was denied seating inside. When I decided to leave I was charged for items I never had the chance to eat. The manager refused to remove items off of my tab even though I couldn't eat it due to the rain. Pros: location Cons: service, management, experience more

Wonderful 7/25/2005

The first time I stopped into Le Tub was for a few beers and a couple shots, I feel in love with this place. I don't know why you guys are saying there is something wrong with the service, if you were in a place that has the best burgers in the state an had to cook them on a 3 by 3 grill, you might get a little grumpy too, when everyone orders a burger. The best seat in the house is right next to the kitchen so you can hear the grumpy cook complain everytime someone orders another burger. I give this place a %star dive rating. more
