Their hot chocolate is divine! more

Such a beautilful place sit and eat. 10/21/2010

Love to come here and have hot chocolate. Sounds silly, but they make a mean Hot Chocolate. The food is consistent. The service is consistently bad - but I'm over that for the food and the great atmosphere. more

Great Brunch! 5/21/2010

You would never know you are in Brooklyn. The ambiance is amazing, and the food is good. Food gets mixed reviews, but i went their for Valentines Day dinner, and the food was great! Pros: Great Ambiance! Cons: Long Wait for Brunch more

Very pretty place.....bad service. 5/7/2010

I have been going there out of convenience approx. 4 years. Dining in is ok but carry out or delivery is awful. I have been overcharged 4 times (overcharged as in DOUBLE the listed prices which manager claims doesn't have time to update). The employees are clueless and slow. Once after inviting 6 people to brunch, the waiter asked us to leave so they could seat more people. We were still having tea and coffee and talking. They once charged me $9 for an oatmeal and when I argued there must be a mistake, the girl behind the counter just shrugged. Today was my last day ever going there. I was charged $17 for a salad listed $8.95 and it took 1 hr to deliver as the delivery guy couldn't figure out the buzzer. Pros: good food, clean place Cons: horrible delivery, bad service more

Brunch is fantastic....DINNER IS A NO GO.... 4/3/2010

On a recent family and friends gathering wth a party of eight, I was so terribly disappointed. We were all excited to go there because we heard how delicious brunch was and how intoxicating the atmosphere was....well that being said, it was true about the beauty, however, brunch may be wonderful as people often tell me....DINNER really sucked....If you are putting tuna on your menu, you really need to know how to prepare and cook it. I felt like I was in a salt mine and I love salt...all eight meals were served with various temperatures. Out of 8 6 of us ordered the tuna, and we ordered it RARE...some were rare, some were totally well done, some were ICE COLD, some were room temperature. When I get a meal I want it HOT and the way I ordered it. This is what we got after waiting an hour to be served and the restaurant was EMPTY. I shudder to think what happens when you have it full. Now to the good stuff....the waiters are lacking in personality and perhaps the english language. I was telling him that the tuna was awful and he kept smiling at me and said and did nothing about it and walked away. YOU NEED TO REEVALUATE IF YOU WANT TO STAY ALIVE........ Pros: beautiful space Cons: worse wait staff ever....dinner foods need HELP!!!!!!!!!! more

Cool place to eat 11/22/2009

The food here is really good, especially the miso steak, when it's available. The restaurant itself is such an interesting place to sit and hang out in, especially the back garden. Great place for a date in the evening or Mother's Day brunch. The waitstaff is generally pretty bad and if you want dessert you're wasting your time to ask them...go up front to the pastry case and pick something yourself. Overall I definitely recommend you see this place for yourself, it is pretty damn cool inside. Pros: Good food, very cool atmosphere Cons: Waitstaff is terrible more

Great Food, Crappy Service 8/14/2009

Well, I usually only eat breakfast type food at this place, so my girlfriend and I usually end up with a bill of only 10 bucks or so...Still, we make sure to tip at least 4 clams every time.(We tip at least 2 bones per person until the 20% portion of the bill gets higher.) Yet, every time we come back, the wait staff treats us like we stiffed them. They not personable at all and it took them 15-20 mins just to get water out to us.(And it was a hot day) The servers treat you like they'd rather you not be there. They are complete amatures. During my meal, they never came to check up on us and I went without water the whole time. Sh*tty service and they don't know what they're doing. Food on the other hand is excellent. Very creative and tasty. That's that. This place would be my favorite restaurant in Carroll Gardens if it wasn't for the service.... Pros: Great Food, Cool atmosphere, Cheap Price Cons: Crappy a$$ service more

Le Petit is a Le TREAT! 4/9/2009

The food at Le Petit is excellent. I couldn't think of a better brunch spot in the neighborhood and the ambience and design of the space is very original and unique. Pros: Excellent Brunch. Cons: It's busy on weekends more

Relaxing spot to while away a Sunday 10/2/2008

I've stopped by Le Petit Cafe a few times to grab a quick coffee to go and kept catching glimpses of their glass roofed garden in the back. I finally had dinner there last week and got to soak up the atmosphere. Le Petit Cafe is all about the cheerful, relaxing atmosphere. The colors are warm and golden so it evokes a sunny day even if it's dreary outside. The music is casual and mixes in with the sounds of the cascading water in the back. Dinner was good and fresh- I had the red snapper which came with a mango salad which was tasty and light. Having stopped by quickly in the daytime, it was nice to have dinner and get a better feel for the surroundings. I'd like to come back on a lazy Sunday to sip coffee underneath the atrium in the garden. Pros: Cheerful atmosphere, ""hidden"" back garden more

The most beautiful & romantic restaurant in Brooklyn 9/26/2008

I've been to Le Petit Cafe a few times and I have to say that I'm absolutely in love with this place. From the outside, it looks like a small coffee shop, but once you go inside and out to the garden area there's much more room and it's so beautiful! I'm amazed every single time. The food is very good too and inexpensive although it does take a while before it gets served. Friendly and pleasant staff. I would highly recommend this place to anyone-- from those looking for a date spot all the way to those looking for just a place to grab a cup of coffee and pastry. Pros: beautiful place, inexpensive good food Cons: it take a while before you get your food more

here is the true deal about le petit 8/19/2008

Pros-The atmosphere is amazing.... end of story. Tommy , the owner has poured his heart and soul into this place and it shows. The fountains and landscaping make it worth going to if for no other reason at all. It is very beautiful and a great spot to go on a date or just to read the newspaper and have a coffee. The prices are decent as well and I think you get what you pay for. The food is pretty good. It?s not great or the best but its pretty good. Now for the cons- the service is not good at all. I am going to try to offer constructive criticism rather than just be rude but it is true. The service is actually bad more often than it is decent or good. There are 2 issues here. First is the wait staff. They are young and inexperienced. Tommy means well but to be quite honest he should hire older more ""professional"" (for lack of a better word) wait staff. The 2nd issue is that the kitchen is too small for the amount of business that they get on a regular basis. This is not really an opinion, but rather a fact. As for people saying that the owner was rude, to be honest I am not surprised, although he should know better. Acknowledging your faults and handling them the right way would stop people from reviewing it as a place that they wouldn?t return to. Rather then get defensive or nasty, they should apologize and try to make it better. Overall it is surely worth going to for the food and the atmosphere and if you have a bad experience, give it another try or two. I have been there a million times and they have their good days and bad. Despite issues with service or speed I like the place...enough that I keep going back. Pros: ambience, decor, location, food Cons: wait staff, service, speed more

Loved it! 8/5/2008

Loved it, loved it, loved it!\r Wonderful locatin for a random weekday breakfast! beautiful :) I will def go back again!\r more

Great food, but terrible service 10/8/2007

My husband and I went for brunch on Sunday for our second visit to Le Petit Cafe, and were again disappointed with the lack of service. We waited for 15-20 minutes and were never acknowledged -- not even by the owner! We finally had to seat ourselves when a table opened up. Our waiter did his best to take care of us, but the wait staff is spread so thin. Our coffee was never filled and my husband's pancakes were served without butter or syrup. \r \r I put much of the blame on the ownership. It seems that much of the waitstaff is making an effort, but ownership is either too disorganized or too cheap to add servers.\r \r The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is great, but the service is bad enough for me to go elsewhere for brunch. We won't be back until they improve service. more

Things are looking up! 8/13/2007

My first 2 visits to Le Petit were disappointing (hence my last review). I recently went back to see if things had changed - mostly because I was craving one of their fabulous paninis. It seems as though someone at Le Petit has been paying attention to the reviews! Service has really picked up. We were acknowledged when we walked in, received attentive and polite service, didn't wait too long for our food, and were given eye contact and a ""thank you"" by everyone (from the waitress, to the cooks, to the cashier) on our way out. I've been back 3 times since - for both bruch and dinner. Things at Le Petit are really looking up! more

Great atmosphere, good food, HORRIBLE SERVICE 7/10/2007

This is an adorable place--the atmosphere is really wonderful. BUT, the service is really, really bad. I went for brunch with a friend, and it took a half an hour before anyone took our order (after waiting fifteen minutes to be seated). Then, it took an HOUR for our food to come. If you have all the time in the world, and aren't very hungry or thirsty, it might be fun. But make sure you're not in a rush, because they will keep you waiting, probably without even water. ...oh, and when our food came, they got the order wrong--I had ordered eggs with mushrooms, bacon and brie, and there were no mushrooms in my food. ...but I'm a pushover for atmosphere, and the space itself is beautiful. Pros: space is really beautiful, food was pretty good Cons: worst service I've had in New York EVER more

Great atmosphere, service and food! 6/9/2007

If in Brooklyn you got to stop for brunch. Great atmosphere, service and food! It wasn't too expensive-they have a cool back area. Kinda romantic too. Pros: Everything Cons: A bit small more

Pros: garden seating, chai latte, pastries, the neighborhood Cons: slow service more

Fantastic brunch place 11/29/2006

This place is magical. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the outdoor space in the back is fabulously decorated, cozy and friendly. One of the best brunch places I've been to. Cute and quaint. Really good food, too, even when not there for brunch. Pros: Wonderful outdoor space in the back, great food and selection of dishes Cons: sometimes a little crowded, though never too loud more
