rude owner, lackluster food, overpriced 9/17/2009

This food is alright, but not anything special or authentically French. Their prices are pretentious, even for easy to make items like croissants! I found their meals to be uninspired, and lacking in quality and flavor. The owner is rude and grouchy, and usually acts like you're bothering him when you want to order something. One time, the waitress spilled water all over my friend at the table! They do not do separate billing for your party, so beware of that. On the bright side, it is at a beautiful location. Compelled to write.... 9/6/2009

Quite frankly this is the single worst experience I have ever encountered at any restaurant in the state of California. The service was painfully slow - not unexpected for a french restaurant - however the server (a woman with red hair who I believe is the owner) forgot several parts of our meal and was extremely rude... to the point where she insulted our family when we complained. The food was adequate at best (to be safe, go with the salmon). We would never, ever, recommend this restaurant to anyone unless they wanted to experience the rock-bottom worst service a restaurant has to offer. Excellent French Specialties 8/14/2006

This is a wonderful place to stop for morning coffee and a croissant. It's right in the Ventura Harbor and opens early. My husband and I like to ride our bikes down this way and stop in for hot chocolate and croissants from time to time. I hear they also make excellent meals, though I know it better as a breakfast bakery. more
