A Washington Post food critic said that Le Mannequin Pis had the best Belgian food he had ever had...including in Belgium! I can believe it. The food there is incredible. Belgian cuisine is a bit of German, a bit of French, and very much its own. Buckets of mussels in different broths (i.e., white wine & tarragon) can be ordered as an appetizer or a main course, and are a Belgian staple. I've had a wonderful broiled fish there that I enjoyed more than I thought I could, as well as a kangaroo steak that really made my taste buds jump for joy. They also have a bar, and a great selection of ales and beers. The service can be a bit "European" (slow, occasionally standoffish) at times, but most of the time the servers are very helpful and friendly, even when slow. The dining room is tiny, so call ahead.
