I will never rent another vehicle from your typical mom and pop operations like LAX Discount Car Rentals. Let me tell you about my bad experience with this company. I called them on Friday and had one of their representatives pick me up from my apartment in Hawthorne. They quoted me a price of 29.99 a day with a $200 security deposit. I normally do not rent from airport locations and they also did not tell me about the airport tax of $11.00 for two days. When I get to the rental place, the price and the security deposit amount changed. The lady that picked me up from my apartment did the paperwork. It was not the person that I talked to over the phone. She told me that it was going to be 37.99 a day. She pulled a fast one on me with charging my credit card a $300 security deposit. She did offer to rent another vehicle at that 29.99 rate. It was beat up toyota corolla that was dirty inside and outside. I told her no thanks. I told her that 37.99 was too much for the dodge neon. The dodge neon appeared to be cleaner than the corolla so I took it. She dropped the rate to 33.99 a day. Only reason I rented it was that I became desparate. The Corolla was really dirty but the Neon was not clean by no standards. I found food stains and stinky odor from inside the vehicle. I became disgusted with this odor eventually as more as I drove it. I found many dings and scratches 360 degrees around the vehicle. Seems like this vehicle was in a previous accident just the way it handled on the road. The vehicle was pulling to the left as i drove on the freeway. I was getting a better quote from both Avis and Budget and I feel like an idiot to go with this mom and pop car rental. The service was even worst. I want to file a complaint about the vehicle but had no one to complain to. With this kind of service, LAX Discount Car Rental will be out of business soon. A car rental company offering vehicles at discount rates may be vehicles in poor condition.
Pros: none at all
Cons: Car not clean, need to be detailed, overcharged me, car handled poorly
