Editorial review from Citysearch 2/23/2014

Busy airport filled with 7 terminals. Best thing to do is take The Flyaway in from Van Nuys or get some sucker to drop you off. Be careful. Lots of cops just waiting to ticket you. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 2/22/2014

One of the biggests international airport, this place is very busy at all times. The design of the entrance is nice with highlighted lights. Expect long lines and delays. more

Could be much worse 6/17/2008

Considering this is one of the busiest airports in the country, I?m surprised at how few problems I?ve had at LAX. It?s pretty easy to figure out the loop around the airport coming to drop off or pick up friends, and traffic moves through at a pretty steady rate. When I?m flying out myself, I think they do a good job getting people through security in a timely manner. Plus, I like that all the airlines have their own terminals. This airport definitely isn?t as unorganized as other ones I?ve been through, namely Dulles International outside of Washington D.C. more

My #2 airport in the US 11/23/2007

The Los Angeles International Airport, or LAX for short, is my second favorite airport in the country. I love the U-shaped approach lanes with the skip to Terminal 7 for the hurried. Parking nearby is convenient. And the lines always seem to be short and move fast as compared to other airports. The terminals are a little on the drab side but spacious and clean. Baggage claim is close to the plane exits. All in all, its easy to get IN, get OUT. That's why I like it. more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE 6/18/2007

THE EMPLOYEES ARE RUDE, NON-HELPFUL..................THE SECURITY ASKS YOU TO TAKE OFF YOUR SHOES, THE LEAST THEY CAN DO IS MOP AND CLEAN THE TILED FLOOR. VERY DISGUSTING FLOORS.IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PASS THROUGH LAX I ADVISE THAT YOU DO NOT. THE EMPLOYEES LIKE TO PLAY AROUND, WHEN YOU ARE ON STAND BY THEY WILL ARGUE WITH ONE ANOTHER ON WHO WILL GIVE THE SEATING SO THAT THE OTHER WILL NOT HAVE TO DO THE PAPERWORK! more

Not that bad 11/25/2006

I don't understand the stigma LAX has. I've found parking easily, and made it through security in 20 minutes on non-rush times. I think it makes sense not to expect decent or timely service when the place is packed. I just try to time my flights either extremely early or extremely late and it's perfect tolerable. more

Parking nearby is terrible 1/20/2005

Be aware that about the parking options advertised through the internet. LAX Park Place offers cheap rates but does not disclose before you get there that you *ALWAYS* have to leave the key. Of course, with a flight leaving in 2 hours you have very few options and have to leave the keys with them. This was a surprise to all the customers with a reservation the day I left my car. The place does not look at all as the photos they have in the web. The personnel is also very rude and threatening. In summary, one of my worst experiences more

Better New than Old 7/14/2003

They spent so many years and so much money creating the new traffic management system, that it better work well! It makes much more sense now that it's two levels and the posted signage is useful. Changes to the immediate freeway system have been perfectly integrated into the airport's traffic pattern that it's no longer a chore to go there to pick up visitors. With all the added security, I make sure to tell people to get there AT LEAST 2 hours ahead of time. I hate rushing through an airport, and would rather sit and read a book because I'm early, than run around with high blood pressure because I miscalculated the time. more

Ok for an Airport 1/13/2003

Its big, it's old but it's ok. Check your bags and go to the Encounter or some place outside of the airport if you have the time. Not impressed with the food choices at terminal 3 or 1. The baggage area of Terminal 3 lacks working monitors or security. A little known fact that the white tiled terminal halways were used in George Lucas' first film THX1138. Pros: It's near the beach, quick security Cons: needs some repairs more

LAX = AOK 11/7/2002

Though large and busy, LAX is wonderfully easy to navigate! It provides adequate though overpriced dining and entertainment and from my experiences provides good, speedy service. The only thing that needs SERIOUS improvement is the smoking situation. Smokers are relegated to a small uncovered, outdoor area! Pros: Simple layout, Good Service, Access to City Cons: SMOKING NOT ALLOWED, Expensive Food/drink more

ADMIRAL'S CLUB EXCELLENT 11/4/2002

I HAD A LONG LAYOVER AT LAX AFTER AN INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT FROM BKK...I WAS PLEASANTLY SUPRISED BY THE PROFESSIONALISM SHOWN AT THE TERMINAL 3 AA ADMIRAL'S CLUB...ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES AND I EMAIL FREQUENTLY STILL...THIS AIRPORT GAINED ME A FRIENDSHIP....THANKS... Pros: AIRPORT LOUNGES, FOOD, CONVENIENCE Cons: BAGGAGE CARTS more

Best in the West! 10/21/2002

LAX has continued to improve each terminal and the travel experience. It's my ""home base"" choice! Pros: Easy Access, Good Parking, Upgraded support opts Cons: Big, Sometimes crowded more

Great Airport 10/17/2002

I never get tired of LAX. Easy parking, easy to find the terminals, and lots of stuff to do if you're stuck there. Lots of places to eat and shop. It's also very clean. I never mind going to LAX! Pros: very clean, lots to do, parking easy more

Maybe I'm lucky... 8/16/2002

I don't want to jinx it, but I've raced through the security lines every time here -- no more than a 10-minute wait. I fly to and from Chicago and love the hourly flights on United. If you've got a few minutes, grab a beer at Karl Strauss (a San Diego favorite) -- but pass on the pre-packaged food. If you want to eat, check out Wolfgang Puck's. more

Not enough flair 7/29/2002

LAX is just fine. Sure, it's a great place to catch a plane to just about anywhere, but that's about it. Dining is below par and the shops can be great or uninsipiring, depending on which terminal you end up in. Waiting areas are dull and bathrooms are definitely not on the clean side. NOTE: If you're flying in from out of the country, make sure you realize how long it takes to clear customs. And yes, be honest on your customs form -- they do search luggage quite frequently. Pros: Universal service Cons: Dirty bathrooms, So-so shops more

Um, it's an airport. 6/10/2002

If I could fly into or out of anywhere, it wouldn't be LAX. Too big, too much going on, lines are too long, parking is a nightmare and expensive and it's easy to get lost because of some construction on certain parking structures force you past your terminal. Do yourself a favor and whenever possible, go to Burbank Airport. Parking is easier. Lines are shorter and there's less traffic. more

Great Place to Catch a Plane 5/28/2002

I think you can fly from LAX to just about anywhere else in the world. I love to walk around the international terminal and look at the signs. Makes me want to go somewhere. more

Great date night 5/15/2002

LAX makes for a great date spot, if you genuinely like the person you're there with. Holding hands and wandering around the concourse is a lot more romantic than many people would assume. You can have a cocktail at the bar, completely fabricating stories about your life when the bartender asks where you're going and where you're from. You can catch a service in the nondenominational chapel. You can giggle over a shared frozen yogurt, then watch everyone pushing one another at the Southwest counter. Seriously, try it sometime. Park in one of the LAX longterm lots and take a free shuttle ride over to the airport. more
